Actually, that was funny...
I think I'm probably the only one who isn't taking this conversation seriously. My bad...
I'm all for transgender characters being represented in the medias, but I was just poking fun at Heathen for the joke.

I was more poking fun at the fact sometimes our words can be misinterpreted by other people. Which is why I said there is no hope. If one can't see that our own jokes might be misinterpreted by others, then there is no hope.
Actually, in that respect (there is no hope for me), we are in complete agreement. ![]()
Anyway, this is what I get for posting on BSN prior to having coffee.

No worries. I minsinterpret things all the times on the Internet.
Sometimes we just need to take a step back and try reading behind the lines.
Though I'm not so good at detecting sarcasm these days. ![]()

That's a massive backpedal if I ever saw one. While the written text has difficulty in conveying tone there are certain cases where it conveys it clearly. "No hope for you" is obviously not a joke, there is no exaggeration, no hyperbole, no indication of it being a joke. It seems to me that you were exasperated with Heathen and when you were called out on it you played it off as a joke to save face.
People need to own up to their mistakes instead of playing it off as something else, that's the only way we'll ever move on and grow. Sadly the select groups of the internet prefer to be eternal children in this regard.
On a lighter note. While I didn't care for Krem as a character (not enough to get attached on) I do respect how he was done and the transgenderniss was revealed for the most part.
Does every transgender-related thread have to devolve into this? >.>

Sadly yes. Anything that is slightly controversial on a public forum will eventually turn into an argument.

I fear it´s not even it´s final form. (wow. The first possibility to use a Dragon Ball Z reference.)

Admittedly, I was reacting to the term "SJW pandering." On the other gaming websites I frequent, "SJW pandering" is getting thrown around a lot in the wake of the first gay Mortal Kombat character.
In any case, I apologize for my part in the thread derailment.
Hopefully representation of transgenders and other minorities in different medias like Dragon Age will have positive change in attitudes towards these different minorities, I don't think change in attitudes can happen without different medias stepping it up so it's nice to see that Bioware had trans character in DAI ![]()
See what a joke does... Boom.
@Panda: I agree.
Well they can **** themselves.
Indeed. Because no one else will.
I wish the constant bashing of straight white males would stop.
Heathen, if someone states an opinion you don´t agree with that is no reason to discriminate against a group of people.
In the mind of a social justice warrior, discrimination or bigotry against cisgendered Caucasian males is completely impossible, as is being racist to whites, female rape, etc. etc.

What are you even talking about?
I like Krem, Krem is awesome, lets talk about Krem in a topic about Krem.

Don't even go there, phantom. It's not worth it. "SJW" is code for "people with extreme (liberal) values and perspectives with whom I disagree because I think they take things too far, so instead I'll dismissively insult them." Other examples include calling people "neo-cons" or "red-necks", depending on whether the views expressed are on economic or social issues, respectively. All such labels turn any conversation in which they're hurled into ad hominem attacks rather than reasonable discussions.
I am guilty of having wanted to use all three of the above epithets in my own replies to things I've read in different topics. I usually mange to recognize my overly emotional reactions and self-edit before submitting such posts. Usually. ![]()
Unfortunate that SJW pandering is what gets a game mainstream attention, not storytelling, game quality, gameplay, etc. etc.
Just like every media group obsesses over GTA V's "social commentary" but never mentions anything else.

Good. I really love how Dragon Age: Inquisition treats transgender people like...people. Proper representation and visibility like that is important. Good find.

Who it's not like these guys did not have all the rights in the world to do anything they want for the past 1000 years... Right?
We all get equal pay in this day for what we do no matter the race and/or gender..Right?
...Any one?
I love even more how the Iron Bull always calls people out on their ignorant questions concerning Krem
I loved that too.
I laughed when people complained about that, as if Iron Bull shouldn't be be protective over his second in command who he lost an eye for.
I loved that too.
FemQuis Adaar: I just though Kerm did that because of the sticky hands of other mercs. I've been down that road...Breaking fingers.
I wouldn't say Krem is pandering. I mean, Krem can even die during the story. Though, some of the fandom can really blow things out of proportion. Wich is ironic because they are all about showing that these kind of characters are normal people just like anyone else, but when they actually show up the fandom makes a huge fuss and treat them like some snowflake. You know, Krem has a whole story, of how he is an fugitive of Tevinter, that joined an band of misfits and had a bunch of wild adventures as an mercenary, but some people don't care about that, they're all like "no, forget about Krem and his whole personal story, let's just talk the fact he is transgender and nothing else, and if you refuse to think exactly as we do, you are a bigot".
My point is, I have no problem with diverse characters in a game, but it does ***** me off when the fandom obesses over an single trait and ignores the rest.
We're still in the No Spoilers section, remember

The f*ck, people complained about that lol?
(sorry, totally forgot the No Spoiler tag x_x)
Well it's easy to derail any thread about Krem cause he's not that interesting of a character from the start. It would have been nice if he were a companion....I would have gladly replaced him with IB. I even had a decent piece of headcanon for him. He joins after I kill IB and he's seeking revenge against my IQ for it but is conflicted between his personal feelings and what's better for the world. Bam, Krem already has a better story than just standing around being "that trans guy" with the tell don't show backstory.
: I laughed when people complained about that, as if Iron Bull shouldn't be be protective over his second in command who he lost an eye for.
People complained for different reasons. My complaint with it is that it's a silly set up for a lecture that relies on IRL social navigating in that particular setting just to get right. Some people argued that asking in itself was wrong and ignorant. However, There is a right way to ask Krem, so asking isn't even the problem.
And I personally find it silly to view asking a question as ignorant, you learn by asking those with experience. That's how you gain an understanding of that person. But if all you're going to do is bark at anyone for daring to not have prior knowledge of the exact right way to ask you, then you're just going to push them away and ruin any chances of that person getting to know your experience.
Now if the game allowed the IQ to be out right transphobic, then yeah, get'em IB. But that wasn't the case here.
