Was Serendipity in DA2 pandering or was it ok, because Serendipity was poorly done? Was the inclusion of Maevaris in the comics pandering?
That is it btw, Serendipity, Maevaris and Krem, the 3 named transgendered characters in the DA Universe.
Um, Serendipity isn't a transsexual. Serendipity was supposed to be seen as more of a drag queen.

That's only because of the overreaction to ww2. Hell, they were going to ban superman comic at one point.

However, Handsome Jacks words about politics is mostly accurate..when you look deeper into to subject, it does get scary. The UN is the worst of them all..
Definitely. I heard they are going to load us into black helicopters and bring us to FEMA camps where we will be transgenderfied. Horrifying.

"Dragon Age II had a character at The Blooming Rose, a brothel, named Serendipity. With the appearance of a female Elf, Serendipity had a male voice actor and came off as a transmisogynistic joke at the expense of trans women. David Gaider, lead writer for the Dragon Age series, later admitted the mistake and said that Serendipity was supposed to be a drag queen."

Why should we not be allowed to be transphobic?
We can be an evil murderer, but being a racist or transphobe is going too far?
Even the SJWs of this thread will regret the day they advocated for absolute political correctness and social justice. When you're thrown into a gulag for the rest of your life for offending someone you'll truly miss when free speech, all speech, was something you had but chose to forsake.
You're not allowed to be an evil murderer in DAI.
When you say you want to be racist and transphobic then the question I have to ask is who do you want to be racist to and what is the reason for the transphobia that exists within the confines of the DA verse.
examples:
Racism against elves is a thing in the DA verse.
Prejudices against someone's country of origin is a thing in the DA verse.
Racism based on skin color and ethnicity does not exist in the DA verse.
So yeah, I think the IQ should be able to join the bigot party concerning elves and people from Orlais. Why should the player suddenly be excluded from something that is well established to be a part of that world. The player should not be allowed to be racist to Vivienne for being black cause that is not a part of the DA verse. Just as being allowed to be homophobic in game is stupid when DA society has no problem with it aside from some gender issues associated with it. ie. Gamlen's "Which of yous the girl." comment about MHawke and Fenris.
Based on DAI. It's difficult to tell what the stance on transphobia is. Especially when it's "spokesman" (IB) thinks that women must become men to be allowed to fight or whatever Qun logic he said about the matter. I barely pay attention to him.
Also, I think your post is blurring the lines between video game and reality a bit. Since when did this become a matter of IRL Freedom of Speech?
Get over it?
What counts as "correct" navigation to dialogue?
You asked a question that was available and you got a reply. All paths are correct since there is no game over.
That IB reacts to certain questions negatively doesn't make them wrong questions.
It seems you want a way to ask those questions while having everyone be happy about it.
If you can't see the "wrong" in asking Krem why he's being a man when he was born as a woman then you have bigger whit to worry about than what IB thinks of you.
There is nothing to get over. Krem is sadly a minor character and the exchange is very short. I rarely even mention it cause it isn't the highlight of my issues with this game. I have far more of a problem with being locked into derping during an exchange with Vivienne. I just wanted to point out that not every complaint can be summed up into "I want everyone to love me!" ![]()
I disagree with your argument, the game clearly establishes that there is a correct way to ask Krem and they don't need to pull out a "game over" mechanic for anyone to figure it out. Unless you don't believe in social cues et al IRL. Also, my post was mostly referring to those who argued that asking Krem any of the questions was rude. Considering the fact that there is one question on the topic that is not met with an unpleasant response proves that asking Krem is not rude in itself, he is open to dialogue about it. If he wasn't, he wouldn't answer no matter what. Which leads to how the question should be asked.
"When did you know." is the only correct choice, which is an extremely vague question to begin with. Especially since a lot of people had no clue Krem was even born a woman until the dialogue options popped up. The question assumes you know what transgender is and know that this is what Krem is based off a convo about his boobies in his uniform. Which is laughable. For all anyone knew at that time, Krem could have just been a woman posing as a man for whatever reason he may have had... or players could have simply thought Krem was a man through and through...which many did without the need for the dialogue options or the lecture.
Note: I am not salty because I was yelled at by IB. I wasn't, because I knew based on IRL which dialogue option to pick once it popped up on my screen. I got my pleasant convo like I knew I would get. But I didn't see anything antagonistic about the other questions based on the convo which leads up to it.

My quis just asked "Why are you passing as a man?" You have to consider the person asking may not know the person asked is trangendered. My fem Adaar just thought Krem was avoiding the grabby hand of other sexist mercs.

Hah. That's a question I would've asked much less innocently.
Being able to refer to Krem by other sex pronouns would also have made my day.
To answer a question a few posts up, I prefer to do all I can to smack political correctness in the face and knee it in the balls. The more people who fight sickening **** like political correctness the better.
