I don't think Flemeth is dead. yet. But down the road I see Solas giving some interesting orders to Morrigan that she can't help but obey.
Or my Inquisitor.

There is this convention in western cRPGs that the current game cannot resolve the major issues plaguing the setting in one go. This is usually because sequels don't work if all the major dillemas are solved.
So what RPGs do is essentially have a "world" plot and a parallel "game" plot. You always solve the game plot (beat the AD, stop the blight, defeat corypheus) while each game slowly develops the "world" plot.
Flemeth is part of the world plot. Bioware presumably could have made a game that exclusively centered around her. But then she's not a mysterious NPC character that's a figure of legend influencing the plot behind the scenes. She's just the main plot.
Great post!
I would like to say though that Flemeth doesn't have to be that plot device. In a way, with DAI they added to her possible continuation and possibly passed that torch to Solas (Soulless-as I like to think of him) in one swoop. But we know, "Swooping is bad."
Ahem. I think they need to move on from all of this though. If their goal is no resolution at all then it is going to get tedious to remain attached to the DA series. Proceed with a final arch and go next gen with a new age. That's what I would like to see happen.
I think the original picture is from the games somewhere:
but I know it'll at least be in the new World of Thedas book coming out.
The comparison proves nothing. Shartan held a key to represent freedom from the shackles of slavery. Solas held a flame. And they are both elves. So what? Same pose? Same artists that made the window made Solas' card. Again, it proves nothing.
I don't see Flemeth and Mythal as two very different entities.
The Flemeth we've met has spend most of her life with Mythal inside her , and we can assume everything she was planning was directly related to Mythal's wishes.
Possible Morrigan is going to be the new host for Mythal.
Basically we may get Flemeth 2.0 ( Alistair and Leliana points out Morrigan looks just like her mother...also the "Well well what have we here?" is something both Morrigan and Flemeth say )
Would be interesting to see if it happens.
Anyway I'm more interested in Mythal than Flemeth.
Flemeth was just a random pissed off human mage who won at the lottery gaining the spirit of a God.
If Flemeth took revenge against those who hurt her back then , it happened a long time ago and well it's done.
Mythal on the other hand is still a fury who wants revenge against the Heavens (whatever that's supposed to mean), she also knows a great deal about a lot of things .
I hope they are done with her. Also , Morrigan and Leliana too. If we are to get a new protaganist everytime they really shouldn't be dragging all the old chars to everygame
The major reveal about Flemeth was her housing Mythal's spirit. So If Solas took that then she's dead and gone.
lol in my play I didn't take Solas with me to meet her so this never happened!

Agree. People like conspiracy theories too much. Solas is Shartan, Flemeth is Andraste, Sera is Andruil, ... Warden's mabari is the Maker, etc, etc. While it can be interesting to theorize about it, eventually it becomes too convoluted and unrealistic. Of course, maybe I'm wrong and those crazy theories will all be proven true but then I say ![]()
As for Flemeth, I think she sent her "godhood" (essence of Mythal?) through the eluvian to Morrigan and Solas took her powers. (I doubt he will like to host some other entity as it could go against his views about personal freedom and stuff. And he clearly needed power, which he hoped to get from his orb, but that ship is sailed)
Flemeth isn't dead. At least I don't think they'll kill off such a character in such an anti climactic manner. Flem/ythal is going to be back, either herself, or through Morrigan I'll wager a fortune.
As for dragging her character along, storylines clearly changed between DAO and DA2. They probably had something else planned for Flemeth when they were doing her part in DAO, maybe envisioned her as the big bad for the next game or something, but since things changed and that (whatever 'that' was) went into the dumpster, we now have them developing Flemeth's story as they go along. I'm cool with the cameos. It keeps me interested in the series. The day the series no longer has even a single major character from DAO, will be the day I lose interest in the story completely and then bye bye Dragon Age.

(to Chiramu) It happens after the credit roll. You may have accidentally skipped it or missed it.
This one scares me btw
What does a goblet mean? Why does Vivienne have the serpent that was used more in cards like Dorian's (does it represent Tevinter? Something else?)?
SO off topic but yeah.
The cup/chalice has to deal with the minor arcana of the Tarot cards.
Cory is a dead ringer for the five of cups, as shown by the five hands in his card... "This card often carries the meaning of emotional dejection, disappointment and sorrow over past events. There may be a tendency to "cry over spilt milk". It can also represent the failure to see the good in a given situation. Although the figure represented on the card has lost three of his cups, two still stand, yet he fails to appreciate what he has left."
Vivienne is most likely the Queen of Cups? "The card depicts a mature woman of fair-complexion and golden hair who holds a lidded cup. She is described as a model of a loving virtue, one who is purer of heart than most, a loving mother and a loyal friend. The inverted card may warn the querent of a false lover or a deceitful friend or companion who pretends to be of a pure heart but is treacherous and manipulative." Both the normal and the reverse can apply to her character.
As for a matter slight more on topic, I can see the Sola=Shartan being more possible than the Flemeth/Mythal=Andraste. Both are somewhat possible, but I can totally see Solas sticking his "God of Rebellion" nose into Andraste's revolt against Tevinter, especially with the concern for the elves, since he possibly feels responsible for what happened to them after he sealed away the gods and their civilization came crashing down around their ears.
Flemeth is the curator of the series' story. She is brilliantly both inside and outside the plot.
That's probably why you feel she's dragged along - the truth is, if she held more of a definite merit, she'd actually lose a lot of her charm and function.
Or my Inquisitor.
Much to the reason why they can't base a major story aspect around it. Players chose who gets the Well of Sorrows meaning in future games if they did a major plot around this, they'd have to do it twice. Morrigan may appear again but she will either have it or won't and that's as far as it may go.
...this happens in the epilogue. You cannot change it.
Ah, the credit roll is so boring in Dragon Age games.
Not at all. Her connection to Mythal has me even more intrigued than before. I thought she was as evil as Morrigan made her out to be in DA:O, then I thought she was a demi-goddess 'cause she turned into a friggen dragon and that thing with Mythal's amulet, and then it turns out I was actually right and she actually possesses the essence of a goddess! She put a piece of her in the eluvian before Fen'harel torched her. There are so many questions to answer. Now that we know deities in this game are not infallible, what could be next? Will the Inquisitor ascend to godhood in the history books? Will the Inquisitor find and stop Fen'harel? I know Bioware likes to use new characters for each game but I really want to see my Inquisitor as a main character/companion again. I made another just so that he has romantic ties in hopes of the story changing up. I'm really excited for Mythal/Flemeth/Fen'harel/everybody.
Plus, it helps that Flemeth's voice actress also plays one of the most badass characters on a TV show about female inmates ![]()
Solas already did the handling for them.
Flemeth's story is over. She was sending her "godhood" to Morrigan through the Eluvian as we know from the dev notes. If anything, Morrigan is going to become the new wild-card superwoman that Flemeth previously was.
But part of the codex I read in another forum says a woman awke having dreams she was Mythal or some such thing. Sorry so vague don't have time to find the original post. Came up in the forum re this picture:

So boring, apparently, that 95% of players misinterpret it as Solas taking over Mythal instead of the other way around like it actually happened.

^^This. Because that would mean that Solas is dead.
Proud to be part of the other 5% of players.

Because actually, designer's notes were found in the game files, describing what should happen in this scene?

She's dead....But her story is not over. It does not matter how she dies.
Getting Solas to replace her makes me appreciate Flemeth so much more.
No wonder the Maker myth won out - the elven and Tevinter gods are such toolbags.
Can't imagine DA without Flemeth; less mystery, fewer questions.
