As title states, I'm wondering how my stats should look like.

What's the highest crit chance I should stop at?

What should my crit dmg be at?

What should my attack % be at?

If anyone has a screenies that shows what gear and what their stats look, that would be a major tip. Thanks in advance

You will want both your own and your party's critical hit chance as high as possible for their weapon style (W&S, 2H, DW, ARCH, MAGE), as that will allow you to take advantage of opportunity knocks more readily. not sure about the other two. One of the greatest strengths  of the Artificer (both Dual Wield and Archery) is it's synergy with the party.

I'm aware of it's synergy, but I'm asking at what point do I stop investing in crit chance? I'm guessing at around 60% and then stack everything else on dex?

I do not know, What I do know is that you should not stop until they are high enough. That really depends on what you build. An artificer without that synergy will not be able to spam their archer moves in the slightest.

Well, you don't really want 100%, I've been hearing to stop at around 60% and then stack Dex, but I haven't found anyone available to show me a sceenie of their stats.

Basically it goes like this.

Get the following schematics:

  • Swan Longbow 22 damage metal, 6 offensive leather, 6 offensive leather, 6 utility leather
  • Thick Longbow Grip 12 offensive leather, 6 offensive leather

on any offensive leather slot fill with Great Bear Hide which gives 1.75% crit/slot

on any utility leather slot fill with Snoufleur Skin (easier to get) which gives 1.75 Dex/slot

Get headpieces with crit on them.  They are easiest to obtain in the winter palace quest.

Maximize your utility leather slots on remaining gear.

  • Superior Prowler Armor 21 leather armor, 5 utility leather, 4 utility leather, 5 utility metal
  • Prowler Armor Arms 8 utility leather, 4 defensive leather
  • Hunter Coat Legs 6 utility leather, 3 defensive leather (tier 2 schematic, but highest utility leather).

Get a superb crit chance ring

Get a superb crit damage ring

Get the superb stamina amulet from killing the Sandy Howler.

A superior skirmisher hat is also good but I suck at getting hat schematics.

I also get sneak attack from the dagger tree and run with Varric in my group.  My crit chance is around 56% but I am not fully geared.  My crit chance when flanking is 100%.  That normally means 100% of my leaping shot attacks crit.

Thanks for a well detailed response. How do you get 100% crit chance when flanking? It's a passive right?

That's a Passive skill in the dual wield tree right side if I remember correctly. Passives are weapon agnostic and as such have the same effect regardless of your weapon of choice.

It's not always easy to flank as an archer.  You generally want to stay away from your target, especially for skills like long shot.  This means you have a great distance to go to flank an enemy.  Couple that with enemies that frequently shift, move, jump, etc and it really isn't reliable as an archer.  I'd rather have 70% chance all the time than 100% chance only a fraction of the time.  Rarely do you start fights in behind as an archer.

One thing to note, is NEVER stack cunning...ever.  It is a horrible pay off (0.5% crit for each cunning).  Never do it, and if anyone tells you to do you may want to just skip their entire post.

This.

As for builds there are two schools of thought, both viable and quite different.

My preference involves fighting at short range, using Leaping Shot and Elemental Mines to rack up crits.
It's good if you don't want to rely on party composition to get the most out of your Artificer.

The stamina ring from hissing wastes dragon is just awesome for upgraded elemental mines.

And I know it's been said, but make sure you're party has decent crit.  The more crit they have, the more control and options you have as it will reset the cooldowns on your abilities.  I kept varric in my group to help out with the crit (as they stack from both artificers).  But really there are a lot of ways to guarantee you have low cooldowns, just keep your party crit up above 50% if at all possible.

Some fun ideas.

Give Sera a bow with good crit chance on it, and give flask of lightning priority.  Also any other archer make sure they have leaping shot.  It won't be great because the AI is too dumb to run up to use it, but if it'll land 2-3 hits, that's a guaranteed crit if not more on each use.

Keep varric around and make sure to upgrade Bianca for crit.  Give leaping shot priority as well as elemental mines.  Two artificers are deadly.

Blackwall as a 2H Champ tank is freaking awesome if you can give him the ornate battleaxe.  Flow of Battle synergizes so well with crit and it helps your artificer reset cooldowns.

For mages make sure they have energy barrage and put it on priority.  Try to get them the seer staff so they will have great crit too.

I was testing that out with Sera and my goodness does It work wonders.

Ornate Battleaxe and Seer's Staff are so difficult to farm. I did about 15 hours (farming Cradle of Sul)  on my last play through and did not manage to get them.
