I suspect that there is a way, we just don't know of it.
Doesn't Anders' mention that tevinter has studies on such a thing? That doesn't mean they actually have a solution but to me it says that they're the only ones who actually bothered looking for a way that doesn't involve "insert sharp object into vital area". Though this is tevinter... so there probably is some "stab it!" mentality involved - just not for the possessed. Slaves come in handy.
There was also the case with the "dreamer" elf kid in DA2 that we see is being lured by demons trying to possess him. He can be made to realize the deception and resists it, I believe. That doesn't mean you can reverse it, of course, but its something to consider.
DAO had a boy freed from possession by use of bloodmagic and another mage to go battle the demon in the fade.
Solas reverts a demon back into its original untainted form in DAI. Not the same thing, but still something.
In DAO you get that book you can use to stop the circle tower boss from turning the captured mages into abominations. Again, it isn't the same as reversing it.
Look at the whole thing about seekers and tranquility. We went a long time thinking that was impossible to cure then find out the subject isn't as cut-and-dry. That there is more to it than what we realized.
Look at the Warden's. We thought it was necessary for the Warden to die to slay the archdemon - Morrigan proved there was another way. We thought the taint was guaranteed to kill all Wardens yet we see an example where a warden was suddenly cured of it.
Look at Lyrium. It's implied in DAI that its a living thing, not just some mineral.
IMO, DA:I paints the picture of "magic is magical" and thus it is unwise to ever assume anything is truly impossible. The impression I got from the games was that the lore is not set in stone but rather works off what we know at the time and is always bound to change.
They could well have a way in removing demonic possession in that seeker book of theirs, just like they had a cure for tranquility. It would be pretty boring if the only controversial thing in the book was the cure for tranquility. But so far as we know the only ways a templar can cure demonic possession without mage aid is through a swift thrust of their blade.
The book doesnt contain the cure for tranquility so much as the full turth of the ritual behind the seekers abilities. Tranquility is the process interrupted and abused
Templars seem to be able to bring demons out when they possess places or objects, as seen in DA:O, but seem unable to separate a demon from a mortal host, as that involves having to influence the victim's mind and its connection to the Fade... and Templars don't seem as refined in such techniques as mages are.
