So, a bit of news about upcoming changes from today's stream. Changes are coming to chests, more details will come later, but they're basically making it so your spent gold and collected treasure room chests put you at certain intervals that increase the chances of you getting good loot.

Not many details yet, but sounds promising and should help out those long time players who haven't got their purple heal ring etc.

I have heard of accessories in MP, there is even a spot for them in my inventory - but I fear, like the unicorn, they are mythical.   :P

Excellent news! I hope they can make it retroactive...

Bwahahaha, the guy on 360 who was the first to 1,000,000 gold collected on every map is going to LOVE this. Assuming it's retroactive. If it's not retroactive he's going to flip the f*ck out.

I hope they implement this soon, and it is retroactive. I have to honestly say, that I've just about hit my breaking point with the terrible loot system and was about to move on.

I've spent over 500,000 gold, and the last 100,000 I've spent, I haven't acuired 1 piece of usable loot.

I'm still missing ALOT of stuff too. My daggers are level 20 blues, my best 2 hander is Slayer, no purple health belt, no stamina amulet, missing a good amount of rings (although only a few are actually viable). I don;t have PBTM, or fury of the veil either.

The only BIS pieces I have is Caliban and Longbow of the griffon. I also have a +10 HoK ring.

This helps gear progression how exactly?

How does it not help, exactly? Anything is better than the current state.

Moved this here, as I just posted it in the thread below this:

They also discussed the "chest" and "RNG" situation. They confirmed there is a hidden "score" that accumulates with every chest you open. This opens up different tiers of probability, at least that's how I understood it. In essence they said by opening chests, in game or through the store, your odds for higher quality loot improves.

Thought that was pretty cool. They also mentioned they have data now...and plan to make changes to the system. No mention of what changes, but they did ask for recommendations such as specific chest types.

I thought it was informative compared to the last few streams, and will now be hoarding gold like the rest of you.

Having x amount of hours and x amount of gold spent could ensure you receive your 20th Longbow of the Griffon, rather than that elusive HoK ring. That's helpful.

I was also referring to progression. You get that missing item or weapon once. Then what?

This is good, it is getting worse and worse for people never going after chests at all.  It used to be mostly perilous but now even threat, people are in speed runs.

Now if the group I am is doing that I follow suit but the excuse that 'oh no you fool you are leasing a revenant!' is lame if the whole group is in there.  Whole group means that any of those baddies go down fast enough even on perilous.

Agreed. I'm looking forward to opening in-game chests now.

:(

I hate treasure rooms. I'm so close to not caring at all and just running ahead alone every match.

This is currently how the system already works, we are just looking at improving it so that the progression curve is more rewarding. We are still designing this so I can't get into many details or dates, but it is an extremely high priority for the team.  This would of course be retroactive, and your previous chest openings would count.

If they calculate the odds with chests opened in game or through the store like Proto said, there's still no reason to ever open a door... Unless a treasure room chest increase the odds over a store chest by at least 5x. Even then, it's hard to justify wasting 45 seconds of idling time doing doors instead of the 3 seconds it takes to buy a chest in the store. Maybe they'll reintroduce the same store lag as in ME3 so we don't buy too much with the free gold... you know the Bioware way to **** it up...

You might want to make the changes happen sooner than later...

How about just bumping the current numbers for now and re-adjust with the new design when you're ready?

Remove all common items from treasure rooms, replace their probability with just gold. At least that is slightly useful. Common items under 10 are only useful for the first few hours of owning the game.

More rolls of the epic dice still gives you a better chance at an epic HoK ring than you had before.

Maybe someday they'll add that kind of logic (no duplicates) to the chests. It would be nice. But this could still be a big step, depending on how much they ramp up the curve.

Its a fine line. If you slam your head into the wall over and over again you feel like you are getting no where. But if ot all comes too easy you feel like you arrived but arrived at nowhere because there was no challenge.

Three legitimate questions based on my DAIMP experiences:

1) When will this 'change' occur?  In about 7 more months?

2) Will we even notice the change?

3) Are top men working on the project, just like the Ark of the Covenant?

Fiddzz, you seem like a good guy, but I'm a bit skeptical when the only colors that can be painted in are shades of gray.

The purple itens/weapons duplicates should get lost. It is pure high trolling from the chests.
