Which brings me back to how BW coded ME3MP.  After over 900hrs played (sad but true--really loved the game), still waiting on certain weps, as well as upgrades.  However they did things, it seems to somehow favor some players over others.  I would like to see how they code things, because despite ME3MP RNG being better than DAIMP RNG (which I have no argument about), I am not willing to say ME3MP RNG was really much better.  Those of you who got your stuff with 200-300 hrs condier yourself very lucky.  That is point I am trying to make that some of you are simply not getting.

Mileage does vary. I put 920 hours into MEMP but still have c.90 U/R unlocks and may never max my manifest.
I'm not an uber player, I didn't presume to get carried on Platinum and didn't farm in the Box of ShameTM.

After 800k gold in DAMP, I've been much more successful missing only a few of the best weapons.

Sorry, but you did something wrong then.

I've played Bronze and Silver for about 150 hours before jumping to Gold. After that, it's just a matter of extracting successfully, buying the Specter pack and keep playing the next 250 hours. Platinum made it pretty easy to max out way before that, especially since you now had a lot of player being able to carry you for your firsts steps.

About the store, you only needed to know the RNG formula to "game" it. If I remember correctly, Veteran pack always had 1 common with a small chance for uncommon, Specter pack always had 1 rare with a small chance of an ultra-rare and Premium Specter pack always had 2 rares and a small chance of a ultra-rare. All you had to do is to only buy the Veteran pack until your commons and uncommons are maxed, then switch to the Premium Specter pack (if available at the time) until your rares are maxed and finish with Specter pack until your ultra-rares are maxed. The only "RNG" for the manifest were the ultra-rares as the drop rate was about 5%, everything else was 100% certainty to get something. If you tried to jump to the next pack before the low quality items were maxed, you basically paid for air as you needed to max them to remove them from the pool.

So sorry, but you did something wrong if you didn't max your manifest by around 400 hours. No matter how many new items they introduced, it was easy to max your manifest as all it required was to play and have fun.

And for the record, I wasn't an uber player either. When I started playing ME3MP I was at lost because I played all the previous games pausing the game to give orders. I'm about the worst player with a mouse and never played a "shooter" except for the Mass Effect series. At my peak I could barely solo Gold, but after learning the patterns Gold was relatively easy as a level 1. I waited until level 8 before jumping to Platinum. But then again, I see pugs jumping out in the open like headless chicken all the time so maybe I'm that good for actually using my head? In any case, that's another story and it's not related to the topic so sorry for getting lost in my thoughts...

I went through a similar ME3MP life as you as far as Bronze to Silver to Gold/Platinum progression.

I maxed out all character cards and rare or less weapons via the "proper" pack progression (as you described) each time a new DLC dropped.

And with 710 hours, I'm still missing 35 black cards to finish upgrading my few remaining ultra-rares. I do HAVE all the URs, but not all of them are maxed.

So, I do not have a maxed manifest and I followed the same progression you did. RNG is RNG. Got lots of Level IV ammo and crap. And have bought nothing but Spectre packs since everyone figured out they were a better bargain than the PSPs.

I do kinda find this interesting, though: having not played regularly in ages, I seem to have increased UR luck. Such as, when I went and played a few ME3MP matches after having played nothing but DAI for 3 months solid, I got two UR upgrade cards. And happened again a little while ago when I "visited" ME3MP for a few matches. Probably just weird luck, but I was amused that it seemed to be trying to lure me back again.

Most of the original player base (day 1) got it maxed by the time they hit 400 hours. Considering since then they added extra credits for extraction and Platinum difficulty, it would be perfectly possible to max your manifest in 200 hours as long as you're playing with players that can carry you for the first 50 hours or so.

You'll never get that kind of numbers from DAMP...

I had ME3 preordered, I did most operations and N7HQ claims 1000+ hours. While the missing weapons are from the last DLC pack, I think I opened more than enough packs to get at least one of the three DLC weapons I wanted. I didnt expect to max them, I wanted to at least unlock them.
I dont see how its any different to DAMP.

ME3MP is predictable, at least. You HAVE a chance of maxing up at one point. DAI:MP is 100% RNG - you have no absolute guarantee that you max at 5 mils, even if you count that supposed "hidden Chest score", which is ridiculously low, if we count the people at 2 mils that are yet to max. This is my understanding of it, barely having played ME3MP, however.

Would be really fun to see a real statistic comparison: "Average manifest max hours" between the 2 games, as it almost seems that the time is the same, only DAI:MP system "looks" worse because you have larger gaps between "progression items".

All of the above is personal opinion, btw, using whatever little brain I`ve got with almost no coffee at this point, so mistakes could appear.

..I never even touched ME3MP,. I have only started playing games online since last year, before that my internet connection was not worth my time waiting to connect or have all sorts of issues..

Is it still worth firing up my 360 to play some ME3MP?  Does anyone know if they are re-mastering the game to run on next gen platforms?

You are all so full of praise over it I feel I am missing out!

I've heard rumours about it being remastered, but nothing concrete. It was a fantastic experience (I played non-stop for two and a half years). It wasn't without it's flaws, but we didn't know how good we had it until now.

I'd say it's worth getting into. It's still got a fairly active community.

The remaster remains a rumour, it may never happen or it may, who knows.

MEMP is fun, I was in there for a while yesterday...

360 might be not the liveliest platform now, but MEMP on PC should still be fairly populated. Game itself can be found pretty cheap these days and all MP DLC are free. You'll also gain the benefit of being able to play modified games with changed wave compositions. Like "all husks all the time", or wave budget x100. Perfect for your dakka needs.
