I really only used TTD on Katari 1.0 (before the buff). It was usefull then to take down bosses and brutes. But I really don't feel it necessary anymore. The bonus damage is nice but I cant really justify to myself spending the points and ability slot on it since its so situational.

Katari is a bosskilling machine with TTD. Dominates first 4 zones with or without it, as you yourself have said, CB/MB/CR repeat.

No one's denying that. You asked for a reason. TTD costs more for Katari vs Lego, that's why it isn't universally loved.

I personally liked using it during the 3x boss events. If there are similar conditions, that's where I use it. Otherwise, I use another 4th. Usually pommel strike.

This. I recently briefly fell in love with TTD during the April fools triple boss event, while messing around with builds. I subsequently realised I missed all the passives too much.

I'm curious about all the WW fans, anyone got a video of it being used in a perilous game without static cage? I just can't see how it would work, except on demons. Too many damn jedi. Now I know how Palpatine felt. Order 66! biower pls

OP, how goes it with your chosen Katari build?

Well the build is not really the problem but I have giving up on the Katari for now. With no HoK or crit gear I was too squishy for threating level 5. I couldn't even keep my guard up. I'm playing nothing but Lego and Ele untill the RNG gods start smiling on me again.

Fair enough.  A HoK ring certainly helps, however from experience it is usually the playstyle that makes it difficult or relatively easy.

Not sure how you're playing, but I find it the same as the Reaver.  Do not play like a tank.  Instead, allow other teammates to draw aggro, and then flank attack from sides/rear; or front, if enemy is already aggro'd.  When I follow my own advice, both of these characters shine.  Will have to do a solid Katari run and post a recording on Youtube.

My playstyle for Katari/Reaver:

- Move close to enemy but out of their "detection range"

- Allow team to aggro; enemy attention will now be on attacker/s

- Front or Flank > Charging Bull > Mighty Blow (on 2 or more downed enemies) > regular attack / next ability > repeat > (Combat Roll - use to quickly close space for CQC, and also to dodge arrows/missles/melee/remove harmful effects (ie fire, spirit, chill, fear)

Ultimately this is also how I play Assassin/Alchemist/Hunter as well, and usually to good effect.  I have noticed BSN posts "they suck!" since release about Katari/Reaver, and these are usually those who play these characters like a tank and faceplant because of it.

Weapons and accessories do make a difference, but while they can help, the way you play a character can easily make or break it for you.  Like a race car, the difference between a pro and new driver are monumental.  You got this.

Hope any of this helps you down the road.

Robbie's right on the money. Do not play like you do as Lego or Ele. It is closer to how good assassins play actually.

Katari is Cavalry. He swoops in and swoops out. Don't listen to Alistair's "Swooping is bad". That's only for the other guys.

Steamroll the guys, and mighty blow them, then get out of dodge until you can do that again. That's the most basic combo and is extremely effective even without HoK.

I had the opportunity to play a fresh account lately (and the terrible gear / no promotes associated) . Still pwnt because I learned how to Katari.

I got a little annoyed/pissed and salvaged all my weapons other then my staff and 1 hand. My 2 handed weapon wasn't even that good though. My 1 hand has better damage plus stats. So untill I find new weapons well Katari and the rest are on the shelf. I might try templar or the other mage classes.

I personally use TTD, I kinda like, though I don't find it entirely crucial.
But more important than TTD are the passives Flow Of Battle and Crippling Blows. Probably no one mentioned them here because they are pretty self evident, but for newer players they might go unnoticed so I think it is important to bring them up.
Obvously the higher your Cunning/Critical Chance the more reward you get from those passives as well as your whole 'Kataring' experience. It is worth mentioning that the Katari depends heavily on gear, and having a Life Drain Ring is extremely important.

Yeah I have no life drain or crit gear. Now no weapon too. I will wait for some better gear.

I know it's been discussed To The Death (har har) but if you're struggling to decide, TTD can break pots without a cooldown. Pretty game breaking.

I'm a bit late to the party on this having just started playing the post patch Katari, but I am in the CB, MB, CR with TTD as fourth, since I find TTD suits my passive aggressive playstyle.

What I really wonder about is the concept of nerfing the DC and buffing the Katari instead of nerfing the AW and buffing the VC. Perhaps this is being/has been addressed in some top secret not to be named project already. Or perhaps not.

Ttd on katari is meh, to me, he already has good dps out of the warrior class and it's pretty far down in the ability tree.
