Maybe that has something to do with it for me as well. I have no doubt that I was using games, specifically RPG games, to get lost in and ignore real life. However, that makes it sound like my enjoyment of games, which I believe was indeed genuine, could be summed up as just a need to live in a fantasy world.

 

Now that my life has begun to improve and I'm thinking about other things, maybe I just don't need that crutch anymore. I want to be clear that I'm not trying to say games are just a crutch or that anyone who plays and enjoys them are using them as such. This is just me trying to understand my situation based on everyone's feedback here.

lol I wish this happened to me. I'm stuck moving from flat to flat every few months so a desktop is out of the question, I scrap by with an old macbook that can't run anything. I left my gaming PC to my parents so they can browse the internet. Gah.

 

Last summer I went home for holidays and absolutely destroyed my computer in those weeks.

I go many months without playing anything but I always come back to it. I don't see myself ever getting tired of playing video games completely though. A life without playing video games ever again seems sad to me. 

 

But I hope you find some new hobby that interests you or that somehow games become interesting to you again.

Been there. Went through a period where I just didn't play anything for a year cause none of the games were really interesting me. This was probably 2011, maybe 2012. I got into movies, and writing. Then 2013 came around, along with Bioshock Infinite, Saints War VI, Grand Theft Auto V, Assassins Creed Black Flag, and I started PC gaming for the first time with Minecraft.

 

Now movies have kinda faded out and gotten replaced with gaming, cables been replaced with netflix and youtube, and my writing is sorta a second favorite hobby of mine. XD
