Apparently. just as it seem too hard to have Leliana's, Cullen's, Morrigan's, Josephine's, Sera's, Calpernia's, and Cassandra's. A bunch of hairstyles that are much, much better than what we have in the CC, but can't have. Is terribly annoyng.

They probably don't have them as options because the unique hairstyles help give them a unique look.

Yeah, shame Inky doesn't have to have a unique look... Ordinary person, you know.

Than the Inquisitor should be given unique options too, than. Instead, she/he is just as vanilla as random NPC n°222393928.

The graphics are advanced enough that you can have that while potentially sharing hairstyles. It's not as if people don't do that IRL, and if resources are so precious that an even reasonable number of hairstyles is not doable then wasting them on unique NPC cuts is a poor choice.

Blackwall has a static head, which is why his hair and beard work. I believe parts of it are also baked into the textures for his face and skull (what a tool; even his hair is a lie).
A player model needs hair that will reasonably fit any custom head design (you don't want parts of it disappearing into the face or getting consumed by the skull, and you can't have features that may get removed or behave oddly with certain equipment). They will never get options as good as what can be done with characters that have a pre-determined head and face (especially characters whose appearance never changes as well).

And if players want them to remain unique, they can not choose those options.
But they shouldn't deny the rest of us those options if we're not wed to the idea of unique appearances.
Now, if the companions have distinct head geometries, and their hair wouldn't fit our heads, then I might understand.

I don't think Cullen's hair is unique enough to keep it out of CC. It's the most generic short hairstyle in the world. Even Alistair has the same one, so why my Inquisitor can't use it? It drives me mad.

Because if Bioware decides to add some more hairstyles Bald People Association or something is going to sue 'em

As it was said above, I think Blackwall's model has two beard like textures. The one on top that we see, and some sort of stubble/shorter thing underneath to make it appear fuller. So...I could sort of see why Bioware might not have that in the CC.
I would agree with those who've noted the Inquisitor's lack of unique hairstyles. As a resource issue, I could see why they might not want to make a whole bunch of hairstyles they weren't going to use elsewhere, but it seems like if our companions get unique looks, we ought to have that opportunity as well. Even if the series is meant to be more about the companions we interact with and the world around us, we still have to see our Inquisitor doing the interacting. A little more love to the face we see the most wouldn't be out of place XD

It might be nice to be able to change to one of those options after you get to skyhold or something, like after you've been hanging around with your pals for a while, you can get styling tips from them. Some make sense that you might not be able to, like Josephine's hair, which doesn't have to be worn under a helmet, but why not Blackwall's or Cass'?

I agree. I was just stating what Bioware's mindset probably was.

Hawke had there unique look back in DA2. Now I am not saying the Inquisitor should have a preset look because I know some people dont like that, but at least a few unique hair styles. 1 for each gender and 1 for each race. So male elves well have one unique elf hair style then the general unique male hair style that humans and dwarves also can have. Qunari could have there 2 unique hair styles one for each gender. Dwarves have some unique beards already so they couldve at least added one or two unique racial and or gender hair styles.

DA2 idea of a unique hairstyle for Hawke was good. It wasn't good relegate it to deafult face only.
I liked the hairstyle, probably it was my preferred, but I hated the blue neon eyes default Hawke had. I almost always given to Hawke gray or yellow eyes, and I hated the def colour. (not a big prblem the face: I had a hard time making a really different face from one another in DA2. all the female faces felt the same everytime)

So if I understand correctly, the hairstyles of our companions could be included in the CC - there is no technical reason that they cannot. If so, another very interesting design choice by Bioware.
