I'm baffled that you can't see the potential for making a long, engaging, epic story on a space station with at least 13 million inhabitants, vast unvisited areas, and absolutely crucial relevance to the entire galaxy in both technical and political arenas.

Please, there are cities with bigger population on Earth right now. And the Citadel lost all it's relevance after the Curcible.

I see no upside for staying in the Milky Way other than petty nostalgia. The lore is pretty much depleted in the Milky Way, whatever new stuff the writers could come up with can be done in Andromeda without retcon/canon/homogenization.

Other than retconning the fact that we are nowhere close to capable of getting to Andromeda, right?

I'm baffled that you actually believe they can't write a story about the Citadel.

Well maybe read my whole post then, here let me show you:

"I'm baffled that you actually think they could make a long, engaging, epic story about a space station. More so since we already know it's main function, everything else is detail."

Emphasis on the bolded part. Sure they could write a story about it, but it would be boring as hell. Unless they come up with something totally new. On that point read my previous post.

This disproves my point ... how, exactly?

Don't bother. Science fiction is too serious. <_<

Oh, but never mind the fact that despite being near a black hole in ME2 that they didn't experience time dilation....

You brought up the population, you tell me.

I said it before. The main function of the Citadel is to help with the Harvest. The Cycle have been broken. So every other secret there is either nonessential or can be replicated in Andromeda.

I'm baffled that you actually believe they can't write a story about the Citadel.  I'm not sure I would like a story about the Citadel itself, but I'm curious about some of its functions. Where are the engines located? Remember Barla Von in ME1 saying the Citadel has engines?  I would also like to see the machinery that is needed to open and close the arms.

"The station is, without a doubt, the greatest wonder in the galaxy."

But dreamgazer, there's a bathroom stall in the Citadel that we haven't seen.  Surely we need to explore all the possible narratives from an arbitrary point in a science fiction universe before moving to another!

You want a story about the Citadel? Be my guest, but excuse me while I fall asleep.

Besides the fact that there are countless agendas among those 13 million people in the congregation spot of the galactic government and Grand Central Station for the relay network?

I said it before. The main function of the Citadel is to help with the Harvest.

Oh, it's had many functions before and during, none of which had anything to do with the Reapers and their harvest.

You'll have to unpack that further. Why does the cycle being broken render the station's many secrets "nonessential"?

You mean you don't want to learn more about a ward that...we never heard of before until someone decided to write it?!  You monster!

I read your post and you're implying they can't write a good story involving the Citadel since we already know its main function

So if its something new, you would be ok with it?

I've enjoyed a good amount of science-fiction built around space stations, and I imagine I'd enjoy this one, too.

Which part of "it was built by the Reapers" you don't understand? It either has something to do with that or it doesn't have to be on the Citadel from a plot point of view.

But go ahead, let's force the writer hands with arbitrary demands so they can't write the story they want. I just can't wait for the BSN rage after ME:N when it will suck because of this.

If it's something new it doesn't have to be on the Citadel. Like I said I have no problems with the Milky Way. What I have problems with is retcon/canon/homogenization. Which would be required to make a sequel in the Milky Way.

Or that fact that, you know, no matter what they did to accommodate all the different permutations of the endings that people would find a reason to pitch a b*tch about it.

Fair enough. I wouldn't, but that's just my opinion ofc. Wouldn't you also enjoy a story about a space station in Andormeda?

Personally I got my fill of The Citadel after 3 games + the DLC + the ending. I guess we could go crawl around in ducts, or rent a taxicab or something but I agree with ZoliCs, give me a big place to explore in Andromeda.

Oh, I understand that perfectly fine, sport, but it doesn't answer my question.

It either has something to do with that or it doesn't have to be on the Citadel from a plot point of view.

Unless it has to do with the billions of years of history in the Citadel's bones, as well as this galaxy's technical and political climate. Definitely not an "either or" situation there.

It's possible, but I'd certainly prefer a story about a space station in our home galaxy and the established setting of Mass Effect.

Better yet what epic story Bioware could possibly make of a space station?

They've already made a game taking place on a small city, and as far as storytelling goes it is aeons ahead of its pseudoMMO crap open world sequel.

We suddently are because <insert Lazarus Project 2.0 here>.
