Regardless of how one feels about the endings, relocating to another galaxy would essentially be creating a new IP using a few cannibalized parts of Mass Effect.

not that I'd mind a new science fiction rpg series.  But it would be disingenuous to call it "Mass Effect"

Here we go again...

You don't like the Ark theory? Fine, but drop the hyperboles. They are very tiresome by now.

I like the trilogy's setting and characters so much, I can't decide if its better to experience it all again or to leave them all alive and well through artificial MEHEM happiness.

I find it amusing that I'm being accused of hyperbole by someone who insists on image spamming.

But hey if you wanna go back to ending discussion and getting the thread locked, be my guest

Definitions again.

Some people see continuity as a major factor in forming their definition, you don't.

Agree to disagree.

I think it depends on people's opinions and values of what will be left behind.
I'm wary of the Andromeda setting (Though to be honest I'm wary of everything they could possibly do post-ME3) but I think it might still feel like a ME game.

Agree to disagree.

My point exactly. I'm fine with that. What I'm not fine with is some anti-Ark theorists preaching their personal opinion as gospels. That pisses me off.

I don't understand where you get that.

No one expects others to bend to their will. On an emotional level perhaps, but certainly not on an intellectual level. So, if I say something is like this or that, why would you think that I'm preaching?

I don't expect you to agree, I know we're incompatible. We can still talk about it, but you sort of cut it off by being a bit aggressive I think.

What does have to do with anything?

Also I find it amusing that you resort to ad hominem instead of acknowledging that your opinion is not a fact. It's alright to hate the Ark theory, but it's very petty and dismissive to call it a new IP.

If the Resident Evil movies are considered the same IP as the games, then I doubt Bioware could do anything to make the next game a new IP, whether you like it or not.

Because some of them are not being reasonable.

Not like you for example. You say you'd prefer to stay in the Milky Way because you'd rather see that, and you are fine with canonizing the trilogy. I can accept that. We disagree, but that's just my opinion vs yours.

But then other people keep repeating that the Ark Theory = a new IP, that's just ridiculous. I could say the same about Mass Effect 2, because it doesn't have a Mako. Same arbitrary line some of them are drawing.

Not liking a change Bioware makes is one thing. Going nuts about it and be like "Nanananananana can't hear you, it's a new IP nananananananana" is another.

I hope you can see the hypocrisy in that.

Well you can't well preface every sentence with "I think...".

It's kind of implied, isn't it?

I wouldn't say he implied anything like that, right the contrary...

Oh, come on. He still only thinks that.

Granted, there's an inference there about what others think but you can tolerate that I think. We all find ourselves projecting sometimes.

Hear me out, here's my grand compromise idea: the SP takes place in Andromeda with the ARKCON Pathfinder crew, the MP takes place in the Milky Way and features characters from the old trilogy complete with a MP "mini story" where you unlock bits and pieces as you play, complete with god-tier MP characters: Shepard (if you picked destroy), Garrus, Tali, Liara, etc. The choice you made at the end of ME3 would even be reflected in MP since all they'd be doing is changing eyes to green if you picked synthesis. Boom, done, move on.

Interesting.

But it's equally unlikely as anything else I'm afraid.

That post was the epitome of "not a personal opinion". I don't know what he thinks, what I do know is what he writes, which is that he flat out said everyone (Regardless of how one feels about the endings = everyone) should feel the same way as he does. Which is the Ark Theory = new IP.

I don't think there is such a thing as "impersonal opinion" on a forum.

I've read a lot of posts in the same vain on either side of the debate. I only ever take them as propositions.

Since people don't have the power to actually turn opinion into law and are aware of that, you can only conclude that they are making a proposition.

It's good to think about what people think sometimes, it solves problems.

Sure, but it'd be a lot cheaper and easier to make than a full on sequel, it would function as fan service for those still not over the ending of ME3, and the urban areas of the milky way would probably provide more compelling maps.

Also sure beats the hell out of a video or audio log.

Hey, I don't like Ark Theory, or the idea of moving to a new galaxy, and explained why.

Clearly I'm unreasonable  ;)

When you move on with your life to a new girlfriend/boyfriend, does your previous girlfriend/boyfriend get killed?

I assume not.

So, when Mass Effect moves to a different galaxy, that doesn't delete the previous one either. It just moved on.

So I guess because Dragon Age visited Kirkwall and parts of Ferelden and Orlais, the continent of Thedas is now boring and pedestrian and we should "move on" to new lands?   ;)

That only works if people like playing multiplayer

If you don't stay in contact with them, how will you ever know?

That it does.

If the story and original setting absolutely must be abandoned, then I would appreciate such a gesture, I never denied my wish to see proper closure for my surviving Commander, and I do think it would be deserved in some sense.

I just don't think they want to go there at all, unfortunately, for the same reason they don't want continuity.

It's like, of all the promises, the one they hold most high is that the trilogy was a self-contained story and that it is over.

It's finished, over, finished and done with... https://youtu.be/49GYGGoi6iM?t=2m3s Over.

Why though? I have no idea.

It would seem that they're sort of treating the difference between galaxies the same way as the difference between countries.

It's a bit silly.

That's where sci-fi goes off the deep end.

Well, they made novels and comic books with lore and stories too, and a lot of people don't read those either.
