wot about the Milky Way? Bioware just can't leave it like that with all that happened in the ending of mass effect 3. We need closure before we move on ffs.

Ah yes the "Milky Way" the alleged home galaxy of a dozen spacefaring races and setting of the entire Mass Effect trilogy, of which less than one percent  has been explored.

We have dismissed that claim.

If the next ME game is indeed in another galaxy it'll just mean that everything that Shepard did to save the galaxy is pointless. Why bother saving it in the first place if Bioware is going to abandon it forever.

Like the ending of ME3 didn't make it pointless already

Because it was fun to do?

Except it didn't the endings issue's are more to do with its execution. Moving to another galaxy however means no more alliance, no more STG, nor more Justicars, no more Citadel, Omega, Illium etc. all the things that made the series recognizable are gone forever.

The galaxy change is the only thing I really don't like about the leak, it's obviously a mechanism to avoid the endings.

 Just got the news.

At first I was dismayed. Thinking about it more, though, honestly, who cares about the Milky Way??

We did not really get much time to take in the view anywhere but the Citadel. When we actually got to see the major homeworlds like Earth, Sur'Kesh, and Thessia (not even Palaven), they were on fire. There should be no real difficulty for them to recreate the atmosphere of "our" galaxy in another one, at which point, what have you lost? And, given the ME3 endings, this truly is a nice way to keep things rolling without stepping on too many fans' toes (something they have not been good with in the past).

Panic if you like, but personally, I am getting excited. At least, if the game flops, I do not think the change in galaxy will be the reason.

Path-finding and exploration is definitely the direction I wanted to see them take with the next Mass Effect.

I'm cool with ME4 taking place in Andromeda, new slate, new worlds, new history, and new conflicts.

While the idea of creating new worlds seems interesting, you all have to remember that the majority of the writers who made the lore and made the series what it is are long gone.  And the ones who are gone were the strongest in creating said lore.

Will an entirely new batch of writers be able to make something as deep and convincing, while still feeling like it takes place in the same universe?  We'll see.

Then they might as well have called it something other than "Mass Effect"

^Not going to happen. It's a very expensive franchise and the name itself will sell copies.

I'm not trolling, you're one of the biggest diehard complainers on here, your gripes and grumbles plop down in every other thread. You're just so full of sour grapes, relax a little and take a positive outlook for once. Seriously you're so full of hate and bitterness for so many things about mass effect I wonder why you're even still around here, it just doesn't seem healthy to hang onto that much negativity for so long.

OP we can always go back through wormhole which will show up when we needed it or maybe we'll find a way to build one.

I wanted it to all be on Khar'Shan. Batarian exclusive game. Rebuild and wander the wasteland.

Kind of like Mad Max... but with a pet varren.

Oh well. This other idea would be cool too. I think there's ways to handwave why humans would be out scouting another galaxy, no matter what the endings were.

read my threads about the Restart / Reboot theory and the Milkyway being deleted or possibly re-born for a clean slate fresh game

I'm cool with ME4 taking place in Andromeda, new slate, new worlds, new history, and new conflicts.

which is chaotic since our origins are from the Milkyway. You can't just spawn people in Andromeda out of thin air there needs to be a reason or an explanation how and when or why did Milkyway species crossed into Andromeda which would consequently give us a hint about Milkyway or a possible indirect sequel which would then be convoluted.

if you ask me, if they do intend to start a new chapter in Andromeda without connection to the Milkyway at all with respect to the Orignal ME franchise that means not only the Shepard trilogy is deleted... it could also possibly mean that it was just a legend or a myth but this is rebutted by that stargazer grandpa telling the child it all happened a long time ago... now if we connect this to Andromeda or ME:N... HOW THE HELL? Humans came from MILKYWAY the same way other council species did! and magically now we are in Andromeda? if this is so then everything including what the stargazer grandpa has said is non-existent and is a MYTH / LEGEND why? because there is no explanation of how the council Milkyway races got to Andromeda, there needs to be an explanation! if there is then the Milkyway is still a huge cliff hanger an endless blackhole of possible outcomes wherein we are forced to USE OUR IMAGINATIONS. However, we can somewhat pinpoint what happened in ME:N

IF IN ME:N

1. If Reapers are still existing in the Milkyway and crossed to Andromeda - Control is canon

2. People of Milkyway with glowing green eyes = Synthesis is canon

3. Geth and other synthetics totally wipe out in the ARK = Destroy is canon

but do you think BIOWARE intends to do all of this? I doubt

thus for all we know... the Milkyway is reformatted for a new story-line and like what others have stated rendering the past trilogy useless. But hey it's just a game right?

The Next ME launching point better be that Destroy ultimately fudged up the milky way and this sentiment is coming from someone who went Synthesis in my only play through.
