I hope ME4 retcons the entire old trilogy.

I can't imagine this would happen, seems inconceivable to throw away a successful series,

particularly with an even chance of a HD reissue.

Any direct continuation in the Milky Way would accomplish that anyway.

I don't think so, but it would certainly be much more complicated to achieve,

which is why veracity of the leak aside, setting ME:N away from the environment of ME1-3,

whether some way or a long way away, makes perfect sense.

Wait, really? How? Why?

If I recall some said that their save game was the authentic reality of their past play, not an 'online list' completed separately.

and they had wasted their time playing the games when they could have just filled in the Keep.

I expect a version of a Mass Effect 'Keep' is inevitable...

Perfect example that people gone whine about literally anything.

Good grief.

Not surprising, some actually complainted about it not respecting their headcanon

Doesn't Inquisition basically crap all over whatever headcanon folks thought they had involving Hawke and the Warden?

The more articulate version of the complaint is that the save import feels authentic because it's an actual thing being handed off from one game to the next. The Keep confronts you with the fact that your character is nothing more than a collection of variables, while a save transfer lets you pretend that isn't true.

Well it's their own fault. Why headcanon a story that's not finished? It's like blaming Peter Jackson for changing on your headcanon after Fellowship of the Ring.

If you look back at one of my posts around N7 some thing like this because they also said, at that time, to save your files.

(to Sofajockey) Oh, I remember what some of those comments were like: "What's was the point of me playing through the previous games if I can't even use my import?!" I'd speculate that the point of playing through most games are playing through those games.

If you are only doing it because you wanted a specific import then the Keep would seem to be a godsend because it allows you to customise a world state and if you are only doing it for a personal import then it is the journey through the games that matter and the Keep does not invalidate that.

To me, the Keep is wonderful because it seems easier for the developers to keep track of choices, fix potential import bugs and most of all, because I was finally able to play an unbugged import where amongst other things, my Warden was not dead, my romance did not suddenly stop existing by default and people were not randomly dead.

Oh this is so true. BSN sometimes forgets what BioWare does really well. The Keep is a game changer for games series. I'll be playing the Witcher 3 soon, I hope they have something as useful for capturing my TW2 world state, from a different console.

I thought our saves held more variables and the keep just brought the number down to what was important for flavour.

I doubt it, they probably addressed all the plot flags. There were even stuff in the Keep I've never seen in DA:O.

The Keep actually addressed more choices than there were importable plot flags in the games.

If anyone were kicked out of the Council it would be the Asari.

The Asari founded the Council. That's sort of like the United States being kicked out of NATO.

In any case I think we ever get a direct sequel in the Milky Way, the Council will still have members from the Big Four. (Asari, Turians, Salarians, Humans) At most there might be some additions, but I doubt any factions will lose a Council seat.

According to concept art for ME:N, Krogan are likely to be along as well.

You keep mentioning that about the asari. That doesn't mean anything. After what happened on Thessia, they should at the very least lose their seat on the council

Quite frankly, the entire Council system should be dismantled and replaced by something new and more efficient.

It does actually. The Asari discovered the Citadel and founded the Council. The Citadel is practically an Asari colony that they later allowed other species to immigrate into. Having them be kicked off the Council might cater to a couple people on the BSN that really hate the faction, but realistically it doesn't make much sense. Wars don't typically end with the victors seeking sanctions against their allies. The Salarians shouldn't be getting kicked off either, despite the Dalatrass holding back Salarian resources for the war effort.

OH and if I read the thing right, it said something about CRAFTING! Good God Almighty get rid of that crap. No crafting, or RNG, or crafting WITH RNG. It's like DAI all over again.

I wouldn't mind crafting it makes world sense, so help me god I just don't want to be fetch questing tho, exploring in DAI was very tedious at best

What do you think would be more efficient?  I'm not arguing, but I'm wondering if you had any ideas about that.

Well, for one it can't be just the four races being on the Council while the other races are kept a tier below them. The Reaper War has changed everything, and all the races of the galaxy have given everything they can to bring forth victory from the jaws of extermination. Some of them even more than the Council races did. So I think every race that helped should be elevated up to the main four's status in the new government that forms.

If you feel that way then, are you willing to turn the other cheek about what Cerberus did? Would you agree humanity shouldn't lose their seat because of Cerberus?

The Citadel is an asari colony? Well from what I saw in the epilogue, humanity will take over the Citadel since it sits above Earth and most likely tell the asari to get lost.

The asari were never our allies. If they were, they would've revealed that artifact earlier, right? They would've shown up to the summit , right? They never cared about the other species, They only cared about remaining number one. Look how well that went. Because of their stupidity, they most likely made themselves targets for the other species to go after because of them not revealing that artifact.

I'm not familiar with NATO laws, but I'm sure if the USA would nuke Europe there would be repercussions. Withholding Prothean artifacts is the most serious crime in Citadel space.

Replace "the Council races" with "some Council race" and I agree. The Turians and Humans went balls out in the Reaper war, while the Asari were only protecting their own ass and Salarians were playing politics.
