"Buy the next game of Mass Effect, the series where we say your choices matter, but not as much as our choice to make them not matter!"

Yeah, that'll help sell games.

Nah, they're more subtle in hiding their games' flaws With marketing :P.
Joking aside, the new galaxy would be obviously Used as a Major selling point for newcomers.

Something terrible like a galactic apocalypse at the hands of synthetic-organic godlike war machines forcing the entire galaxy to pool their resources into an unproven piece of ancient technology as a last resort, necessitating a Plan B to ensure the survival of the galaxies races...perhaps.

BW screwed the game, and the way out is this... Probably the fleet was sent during ME3, wich would suck less at least

Told ya guys it will be a soft reboot. And also told you that the game will focus more on exploration instead of telling a decent story.

I think it's all BS not that I'm phased by a new galaxy. Especially not when you look at all the destiny meets halo wars meets halo meets dragon age meets mass effect in the title material that came with the rumour.

I guess this is just a fundamental disagreement on we feel about the trilogy and choice.

I didn't expect choices to be carried beyond the three games they said they would and I don't have any desire to have any particular worldstate be protected by future games. I've been the Krogan's salvation and destroyer, I've sided with the Quarians and Geth, and I'm not attached to any particular outcome and I also don't feel that any of my playthroughs would be invalidated by choosing a canon going forward.

Before coming to this website I wasn't even familiar with the whole "head canon" concept and how attached some people were to it.

Every ounce of this.

No, they did matter.  For those games.  But a whole new era is upon us.

Now it's time for a new game.

And a new setting, new lore new galaxy.

But for some reason, not a new name...

Because it's still part of the ME series, just because it's a new galaxy doesn't change that

It's in a new galaxy with a new lore and new setting while throwing the old lore and setting away. This "Mass Effect" is only a Mass Effect game in name.

Except they said the same thing when doing the pre-release stuff for ME3, thus referencing that the choices in ME3 will affect future games. And now we see that it was nothing but lies..

No.

They explicitly did the opposite, in fact.

Mac and Mike Gamble said, twice, that they had more freedom to put big galaxy-altering decisions in ME3 *BECAUSE* they'd never be making a game set afterwards.

They didn't lie about anything, and saying they did is wrong. BioWare have never once indicated that they would be importing the decisions from ME3 into future games or making a new game set afterwards in the Milky Way.

They never said that they'll be no more games in the MW they said no more games that are connected to the trilogy.

Not an Ark Theory fan, but I do agree that the idea doesn't throw away the lore. This trip to Andromeda would still have the Milky Way's history and tech progression hitching a ride.

No, it is being honest. They are literally running away from the past games.

Please read my post again, more carefully.

The end of that sentence is "in the Milky Way."

I fully expect the next game to take place chronologically after ME3, Casey Hudson hinted as much during ME3.

But I don't think it will be in the same galaxy, and I suspect this leak will confirm that in time.

Problem is that most of it will be irrelevant, the tech form the MW will only get you so far in a galaxy that most likely doesn't have mass relay's.

I did, just pointing out they never said anything like that. But if were just going to argue in circles then I'm not going to go on any further.

Of course not. A new AAA IP is a huge risk, one that BioWare is apparently already taking with a different team.

All that established lore, civilizations, characters, history - all gone. And we haven't even talked about a lot of it. We have a general idea of how the Mass Effect universe works, but it never really goes into detail. We never explore about culture, or politics, or religion. It was just all Reaper this and Reaper that.

ME4 could've been the chance to explore this universe and see it in a different perspective. This time without the Reaper threat.

What I really don't like is the fact that I won't have the opportunity to see the changes that take place post-Reaper war.

This is what happens when you don't got the uh-huh to man up and pick Destroy. You know it should be Destroy. I know it should be Destroy. All the cool people know it should be Destroy. Tsk tsk.

OH and if I read the thing right, it said something about CRAFTING! Good God Almighty get rid of that crap. No crafting, or RNG, or crafting WITH RNG. It's like DAI all over again.
