I would have searched the forums for an answer, but I can't find a search feature in the forum... so I have to make a thread about why there is no search feature.

hahaha I searched for the word search on the forum page and found this thread. It was working earlier today, so it must be another problem caused by the influx of subscribers.

Bit of a debacle isn't it? Never seen such a mess in all my years of gaming. :P

Doing searches can be a big performance drain on the servers. Wouldn't surprise me if they temporarily turned it off to help with the load issues earlier.  They pretty much had to do the same thing with the Dragon Age launch.

Google is indexing the forum. You can always try that. It can be more effective, too, given that the search function here has yet to include posts.

While nothing you state is inaccurate, just turning it off without any announcement is simply poor forum managment.  Period.  There can be the best reason in the world why they would remove the search feature, but if nobody says anything about it, it just looks like those running the site simply don't care if the forum members have the tools needed to NOT make duplciate posts over and over and over again....

I can tell you from experience that those that actually run the technical aspects of a forum often care the least about what goes on in the forum....they usually think it's a silly drain of their resources.

Not that I don't think there should be one, last time they turned it off there was an announcement. Nobody read it. We were answering this question five days a week.

I have to concur. When I got on the forum today I spent a bit attempting to find said announcement, thinking that they wouldn't have turned it off without one. Seems they have, even if it's temporary. <_<

Silly thing is, turning it off is going to cause an even BIGGER problem as people post duplicate threads galore. The number of "Why can't I download DLC?" or "Why Can't I Log Into Cerberus Network" or... well, you get the picture.

Indeed. That's when we mods start forgiving all the duplicate posts. Can't blame 'em if they can't search properly.
