Flower crowns or hide helmet, it's the only way for me.
Though I like Vivienne and Cole's hats. They have character!

Been hiding helmets since DA:O and it seems that wont be changing anytime soon in this series. And who seriously thought of that white cap idea for the hats as a good idea? Like were they expecting fans to say "this is a awesome hat I love how that white cap covers the already short hair everybody has". I mean forreal that was not only a bad idea but a lazy and stupid idea I would rather the hats not be there all together if they gonna be to lazy to let our real hair show.

As bad as they are with hair, you think they'd have more helmets to hide it.
Helmet wise, im annoyed that my Qunari Inquisitor cant wear that one helmet that Iron Bull can. Seriously, I forget the name, why cant my Qunari wear it?
Qunari inquisitior: At lest you can wear hats....

I was honestly expecting them to include those face guards that some of the Qunari had in DA2. Was kinda surprised when it turned out to only be face paint.

I didn't realize that Dread was restricted to Iron Bull, though I didn't quite notice that I looted it during his companion quest. That sucks. I can understand certain equipment being restricted to certain companions, sort of like how one of the best bows in DA:O, Marjolaine's Recurve, is only usable by Leliana, but at least there were so many others to choose from.

Dread is limited to IB because it is tailored to his horns

True, though it does fly in the face of the shape-shifting armor we have in the game.
Funny :People complain because they want helmets.
Question: Why is it funny?
Answer: Because of little fact.
Fact: People prefer seeing face of their characters so they don't give crap or two about helmets so...
Funny again: ...that is why it is funny
!
Me when it comes to helmets in general:
I think the only possible way they're going to fix their bad hats/bad hair problems is to have LOTS AND LOTS MORE of both. Everyone has a radically different opinion on what makes for a good hat/good hair, so you just have to take a shotgun approach and hope you have ENOUGH of them that people will be able to find ONE that they like.
Dungeons and Dragons Online is the one game I've played that has actually embraced this fully. Not only do they have CRAPLOADS of hats/helmets, you can actually get a store item to turn ANY hat or helm into a cosmetic hat that replaces the look of whatever you're actually wearing.
They went crazy--you can even do this with armor, weapons, and shields, too.
I really wish they hadn't tied crafting recipes to item looks in Inquisition. I think it would have been much better if they'd had two separate applications--the first being item looks (schematics) which you can find or buy, and the second being item upgrades (crafting slots) which you can acquire by filling requisitions and "training" your crafters.

It's not a rule that equipping a helmet should conceal the entire face, it's just that the vast majority of helmets available are basic cans over the head with eye slots. I do enjoy using the Helm of the Inquisitor though, much like I enjoyed the Grey Warden griffon helm in Origins.
It is extremely odd that they do such a terrible job with helms (sorry BW if you read this but its true) and they just keep doing it . You would think by the 3rd game they would have more than a handful of decent looking helms
Has there ever been a post by BW commenting/defending etc their choice of helms in DA games?
Grey Warden Shields are just plain terrible to look at in Inquisition, the bulky round ones from Origins were so much more satisfying to look at and use.
Also, I wouldnt mind if they brought back the Warden Commander armour.
A few headgear are nice. The Inquisitor's Hat looks cool. Blackwall's griffon helm, and the Grey Warden full helms, are too. And the Helm of the Inquisitor looks pretty fantastic as well.
But yeah, apart from that it's nothing special. Hey, at least we're not in Origins where you literally had one headgear (the winged Helm of Honnleath) that wasn't bland or terribly ugly. And the mage cowls were in an ugliness category of their own.

I would argue that most of the plate helmets in DA:O were pretty good, or at least passable, it was just everything else that wasn't massive armor was terrible.
DA is keeping up the tradition of ugly hats.
DAI also started the tradition of the ugly hairstyles.
And Solas don't even has a pretty hat to cover his baldness.

I actually like the Inquisition shield, but as far as I've seen you never get a good mat to make better ones. The reinforced shield is actually kind of nice in how basic it is, and is a lot like Alistair's old shield, sans Templar emblem. A shield that really annoys me is the Seeker shield, because I equipped it on Cassandra, but the way it's shaped it wraps around her back a little and clips through her arms. I think the qunari buckler is not bad, but is hurt greatly by the lack of any armor specially made for qunquisitors. They should have brought back something like Duncan's shield though. I currently use the Grey Warden shield that has a molded griffon on it, but I'd greatly prefer the one with the proper emblem.
There's one shield that really bugs the hell out of me and it's the expensive Mage Hunter shield. It makes the PC look like a giant metal cockroach.
Flower crowns ... it's the only way for me.
It is for me...

I have to admit that I like the Inquisitor hat and helmet, I think they both suit quite nicely with Battlemage or Battlemaster armour. However, put a templar helmet on Cassandra's head...
...Yeah...
