Huh. I actually like the Seer Cowls and Inquisition Scout Hat. I also like the Orlesian Mage Hat, but only for Vivienne or Dorian.

This is actually the first Dragon Age game I have played without helmets hidden.

Just goes to show that taste is still very much a personal thing.

I think it's safe to say that the overwhelming majority does not like them

Dunno if I'd say that it's safe to say, especially "overwhelming".

I think it's safe to say that an overwhelming majority of people is outspoken about things, which extends but is not limited to, stuff.

Quote taken from the Art of Dragon Age book. The quote is immediately followed by dozens of pictures of concept art of various styles of helmets. A few examples: 1, 2, 3

I think out of all those helmets, 1-2 actually make it into game? Meaning someone at BioWare saw this art and was like "Naa, just **** my **** up" and so now we have this:

To be fair, those concept art helmets you're looking at don't seem that great either. Even if they were, I doubt they would look as good in the game as they do on paper.

I honestly think that hand-drawn concept art and 3D graphics come across very differently when it comes to DA. There were some helmets I saw in-game (like Solas' Orlesian ball ensemble *shudders*) where I thought, "What was BioWare thinking?! How could they possibly think that would look good!" Then I actually looked at the concept art, and the helmet that looked stupid in the game actually looked rather spiffy on paper.

Whatever happened to the amazing sword we created in Dragon Age Awakening? I know it was stolen by the Crows, but I also know it was meant to show up in Dragon Age 2. Will we ever see that amazing weapon again, or has Bioware forgotten about it?

Well, the two Inquisitor helmets (the pimp hat and the Inquisitor Helmet) that are in the concept art I posted that appear in-game are nearly identical to their 2D versions

There's also that. Why put unnecessary restrictions on helmets? I'm sure nearly every Qunari player wants to wear Bull's helmet

I much prefer my simple hoods!

Indeed. Even better with the new fabric tint feature.

I'd argue Inquisition has better helmets than the previous two games, but I confess, Bioware games never really did a good job with helmets :P

Dunno what to tell you, I'm proud of my team & I think they all look characteristically awesome - especially with their helmets.

...then again I would of course never accept any other kind of verdict.

Consider my jaw dropped, because these are great!

(Though I also kind of imagine Sera nicking a pair of scissors to... 'customize' her cowl. XD)

The gods of schematic agriculture love you! What helmet is Blackwall wearing? I like it! Actually, what is Cassandra's helmet, too? I thought it was a Free Marches helmet at first, but no, the visor for that one doesn't have a base like that.

It is the Free Marches Helmet, problem is there's no schematic for it and it's a tier 1 helmet

Thanks so much guys. Hope it didn't come across as me showing off, rather than making a very subjective point in a very subjective debate.

Blackwall is wearing Rainer's Helmet / Knight Helmet, from the JoW DLC. It's obviously unique to Blackwall only.

Cassandra is actually wearing a Free Marches Helmet - the base I think you're referring to, is the chinguard of the armor's chestpiece. I dyed the metal and the leather straps to match those on her armor. The geometry of the helmet and the chinguard match perfectly for some reason. That was actually the rarest I'm glad to have found - a Tier 3 schematic for Cass with her awesome "coat"-style armor.

P.S.: I know there's probably a more historically accurate term for what I call a "chinguard", but that's what it looks like to an idiot like myself...

I haven't found one, but I would kill for a Orlesian chevalier helmet.

I've found one on two of my characters, but none of the others.

And thanks, Dieb!

There's a guaranteed unique drop from the Highland Ravager in Empris du Lion, called the Duke's Mane.

Where do I get that stetson the Inquisitor wears in some of the promotional art?

It's the originally named "Inquisitor Hat," a Tier 2 mage hat. There's a crafting schematic for it somewhere, but usually I just find one somewhere and dye it to suit. They aren't rare. The stats are something like 14 Armor/ +2 Willpower, but unless you're talking about Duke's Mane or the Helm of Drasca, headgear isn't going to impact your build all that much.

I dont care about the build, I just want to look good. XD

Anyone know the name of the schematic, or where I can find it?

Too bad we can't selectively toggle helmets on/off dependent upon character.  I love Cole's signature hat, and a couple of the helmets look good...but so many look bad (or block the character's faces, which I hate) that I don't bother toggling them on at all.

Inquisitor hat is the name of the schematic. It's a rare Tier 2 schematic. I found it in the Silent Ruins once (out of 8 playthroughs), but there's a chance it will show up in any Tier 2 chest.

The Inquisitor's Hat (the one in my avatar) schematic drops off the Northern Hunter in Crestwood.
