Just because I want to talk to a crew member and be nice to them does not mean I want to romance them. Seriously, every time I talk to Jacob he starts making moves on me. I only want his loyalty quest.

So I guess Bioware didn't script it?
Have to agree with the op...I felt like the romances were being pushed down my throat...especially Garrus...with the email from Dr. Michael about poor Garrus and Kelly Chambers going on about how Garrus just needed to be hugged. Bad enough they have your old LI's refuse to have anything romantically to do with you.

As much as I dislike ME 2 I didn't feel that any of the NPCs were making unwanted overtures towards me, flirting certainly (except Garrus) but the dialogue options were apparent if you wanted to dissuade them (which I did) after which it delved into simple friendship. As far as Garrus goes my Shephard had always thought of him as her adopted little brother so I took the "hugging" bit as something strictly platonic.

No seriously, this same exact problem was in ME1
You're just lookin' too good for your own good.
This is the harsh reality for those who look good, there's always people trying to make moves on you, be it in a groceryline or at the supermarket.
