Opportunity for polygamous relationships in future games?

Sometimes, I just want to date them all and it would be cool for BW to give us that option and i think it would make interesting plot and dynamics. I mean in the medieval times, polygamous relationship is not that uncommon.

And I'm not talking about just for the male players, the female players can date two males and have the two males accept the relationship status as well. Of course, the LIs can have their own sexuality but i just hope i have an option when i can convince the LIs to have a polygamous relationship with me.

I mean in the past DA games  (except DAI), if the LI can wait for me to finish my business in brothels, i don't see the fuss in making me to choose one over the other and losing lots of approval points when i did not choose them.

Can your LI be in a polygamous relationship with someone other than you? I mean along with you he/she would have other partners? Since it sounds like you want to have multiple girlfriends/boyfriends/lovers, right? So can your LI have multiple lovers and you are one of them?

It would be interesting story-wise, but unfortunately I can't even imagine the logistical nightmare of programming it since the game would have to keep track of so many variables just related to that one situation. (How the LIs react to each other as well as to the PC, the possible permutations for who is in the relationship, etc.) I think it would be neat, but I'm not sure how possible it is.

I think there are acceptable and unacceptable ways to add drama to a plot. Polyamorous relationships would add, I think, the really annoying kind of drama that is often found in soap operas. I don't think it would mesh well with the whole saving the world theme of Dragon Age. I imagine there would be a good share of jealousy and pettiness, which is just lazy and uninteresting writing to me.

Another part of me cringes at thought of Dragon Age becoming like one of those Japanese dating sim games where the player works towards obtaining a menagerie of women to drool over. That is a creepy and sad prospect.

Bio did do something like this with Izzy in DA2, didn't they?

I don't think I'd like this.  I sucked at having three GFs in GTA 4, always would focus on one and forget the other two and then they'd get upset.  I'm sure I'd do the same thing if DA or any other game I played had the same thing.

Bioware has said they don't have plans, or are at least vary wary, to do it precisely because of this reason.

i also think it would be a good step to feminism right?

most games that allow this features a male protagonist, so if BW could do it, it would be good.

Poly relationship is not my cup of tea, but I am not against adding the option into a game, though it might be difficult to implement (as I've heard).

Well, if it counts for anything, you can have an all-female threesome in Origins.

But anyway, this all comes down to the types of people that BioWare wish to create, and I just don't see them making two companions that would be cool with this, nor do I think that it should be something to give priority. Now, if one of the characters in question was a non-follower that you can encounter on your adventures, like Isabela, then perhaps, but among the main cast, nah.

At this point, I'd be kinda surprised if we have romances at all in future games, but if we do, I wouldn't expect them to put any more time or energy into it than they already put into the romances.

IIRC, this question has come up before, and the answer was that if it happened, it would involve the protagonist joining an established couple rather than simply making it possible for the PC to bang any two eligible companions at random. I don't know if I'd bother with it either way.

But you know what I *would* like to see? The return of jealousy banters. Back in the old days, if you romanced two companions, they would snark and snipe at each other until eventually, the PC had to choose between them. I hated choosing between Zevran and Alistair (I picked Alistair), but as a concept, it was fun.

Would these relationships also affect who could or could not be in the party together? Bioware has already done situations like that in Baldur's Gate II. Certain members simply could not be in the group with other party members. The members would leave the group or come to blows. Some gamers complained because they could not compose their parties as they wished.

Also keeping track of all the possible combinations of reactions would be a logistical nightmare not counting that the voice budget would be astronomical.

it was interesting and funny but i don't like the extreme loss of approval points because of that. yes, i could easily make it up with gifts (make u realize how superficial the characters are).

After you marry them all, you'll wish you had changed your mind. Love and marriage are not synonyms forever.

If it directly served the story and plot, sure why not, but just as an expression of adolescent masturbatory fantasies, no.

They were experimenting with that whole approval thing, so some of the mechanics were a tad rough around the edges. AFAIK, approval is still a work in progress, but they seem to have figured out that it should be possible to remain friends after breaking up with someone.

In other words, if they decided to do it again, I don't think you'd lose 30 approval points over it.

What proof do you have that polygamy was rapant in medieval times? If anything with the Catholic Church's control over people's lives the exact opposite would of been true.

Maybe the poster meant in medieval times in the Middle East or something? Because, yeah, polygamy wasn't rampant in medieval
western Europe. That was an odd thing to say.

Everyone have the right to write in this forum.

At least have soime dignity to a person who created a thread.

He suggested somthing for DA4, he have the right to do so.

Oh and btw, yes it is going to be a long time till DA4. I pity those who laugh on those who suggest on what will be there. Have a nice time writing houndards of comments, becouse remember, it is a long wait a long, long wait till DA4.

Eventually, I do not agree with your opinnion, Or I do? I mean it will be fun for assholes to have 2 woman/males , to have 2 males. lol  but I still like your thread becouse you have the right to talk about romances, even with all of those who are mocking this threads.

So goodluck! :)
