You mean polyamorous? Unless you want to marry them all then it would be polygamous....

Bio did do something like this with Izzy in DA2, didn't they?

Not really, you could have sex with Isabela and then either lock in her romance or romance another LI. If you romanced another LI, then she says there are no hard feelings, but you can't continue a relationship with her.

Polyamorous would indicate that you are involved in a relationship with more than one person, rather than just being able to have a threesome like in DA:O.

I could see this working with the right two LIs, Iron Bull & Isabela for example, the LIs romances would have to be written with the ability to be polyamorous, rather than just allowing a protag to choose to be with any two LIs they liked.

Buzzfeed did a really great video talking to people who were polyamorous, for them it was all about being open and honest with their partners.

Dorian is my man, no one else's. HE'S MINE, YOU *beep beep beep, beepy beep beep*!!!.... I'm sorry about that, I didn't mean it :(

No poly for this elf. Besides, it'll bring unnecessary drama. Male sleeps with two females, then two jealous females squabble, as an enemy horde approaches. Yeeah... kinda would ruin the story. 1 on 1 is fine...

Yup.

What you're suggesting sounds more like a free pass to screw all the possible recipients without backlash.

Personally I'd be more interested in even more characters like Ashley Williams, Miranda Lawson, Morrigan or Isabela (yes her of all); rather than more bimbos that lose all my respect for having none for themselves, and a game that never tires of telling me how my royal sexiness can't do no wrong.

Then again I'm an ignorant old caveman who doesn't consider relationships without definitive restrictive commitment a relationship at all, so there's that angle to lynch me for.

Well you can lynch me for the angle opposing Dieb's.  I like bimbos.  But then I'm one of those barn raised heathens who never bought into the idea that sexual repression somehow equates to self respect.  Polyamorous romance options would be good for me mostly because I've only got one play through in me and would like to see as much of the game as possible during that one.

Sorry, Dieb, I'm not sure I follow you.

You like confident women who respect themselves and who engage in sex as it suits their desires, not as a means of satisfying your vanity, and in that, you have good taste. I just don't understand how a relationship with Isabela involves restrictive commitment. She enters the relationship on her terms, and she never promises fidelity. That isn't to say she's sleeping around. From the dialogue Hawke has with the Inquisitor, it's pretty clear that she and Hawke do have ground rules about their relationship. I just think that if she were romantically exclusive, it would be because she chose to be, not because Hawke demanded it of her. It probably sounds like I'm splitting hairs, but that's one of my favorite parts about the Hawke/Isabela romance. They enter the relationship as equals and remain in it because they love each other, not because there's an iron-clad commitment to do so.

When I quit smoking, I carried cigarettes around with me for years, and if somebody asked me if I was a smoker, I'd say that yes, I was. I just wasn't smoking at that moment, and I kept choosing not to smoke until I realized that I forgot to put my cigarettes in my new purse... which I'd been using for 3 years. For a stubborn, uppity woman like me, that freedom to choose not to smoke was more important to me than the need to "be a quitter." If that makes any sense.

It the romance is written specifically in mind, or with the ability to choose it. Then there be no drama.

It would just have to be well written, have the opportunity to discuss everyone feelings about it and be specific to a couple of characters.

LIs like Iron Bull & Isabela  could be open to it, but LIs like Cassandra & Merrill probably wouldn't be.

As long as it wasn't a case of letting the protag choose who they could have a poly relationship with and instead the LIs themselves saying they'd be open to it, then I think it could be interesting.

Would these relationships also affect who could or could not be in the party together? Bioware has already done situations like that in Baldur's Gate II. Certain members simply could not be in the group with other party members. The members would leave the group or come to blows. Some gamers complained because they could not compose their parties as they wished.

Also keeping track of all the possible combinations of reactions would be a logistical nightmare not counting that the voice budget would be astronomical.

I loved that. I still remember Korgan killing Aerie in the Underdark in my first playthrough and taking me absolutely by surprise.

Sounds too complicated to be used in a game.
