Just a heads-up: could mean nothing, but BioWare's Aaryn Flynn posted a science-y reply in the leak-related thread on GAF.

If this is true and really what they're putting out, it's clearly more needed than ever.

Show them the light

Man, I don't know how to feel about this... everything that we know, planets, cultures, locations and characters are going to be literally be removed from existence if the rumors are right. They're basically doing a "soft" reboot of the Mass Effect franchise.

It's hard to let all the characters from the past trilogy go, but the whole Milky Way? Damn son....

With names like BabyPuncher and EatChildren I'm starting to think BioWare fans should not produce offspring.

If EatChildren doesnt produce offspring then they will just eat other people's children and not their own. Why do you want to kill so many random children instead of ones that were doomed from the start?

You think that's bad, you should see some of the redditor names.  Good gods...

It has hurt. Literally every positive though I had for the game is gone. My hope of it being fake is slowly being dashed by the devs "just being a bit mischievous" and "enjoying this".

Wow. You guys can be melodramatic about *anything*, huh?

And none can say any of us are drifting off topic, because this is all fairly relevant to the concept of stable breeding populations, which Aaryn Flynn himself was analyzing. What even he failed to take into account is the potential damage caused on the community by the EatChildrens and BabyPunchers of the galaxy.

That was more a case of, "I just reread my previous post and I'm clearly slaphappy due to sleep exhaustion, I should go" than "please everyone wish Jeff Zero a good night", but I appreciate it anyway. Good night!

I read the rumour and I suppose, it may or may not be legitimate. What I've read however convinces me I don't want to touch it at all.

I remember the last guy who thought the fans reactions were for his own personal amusement. Casey something wasn't it?

I think we should all calm down anyway we don't even know what the game's called yet so chill.

Well, I think a post-ME3 game set in the Milky Way galaxy would've presented too many problems for BW (as much as I'd like to play that game as well). BioWare would have to write 3 wildly different storylines. So different it'd almost be like making 3 seperate games. I don't think any company would/could ever do that. I guess another option might've been to choose a canon ending, but that'd surely enrage a lot more people.

So BW pretty much had the option to start anew, go with the Ark Theory(ish) storyline, make some people angry, YET also keep things fresh & interesting, provide the most freedom for the writers... orrr not make another ME game at all. All I know is I would be very sad if ME3 was the last in the series.

Thread has delivered.

Anyway, about the necessary size for a viable population: it's definetly below a 1000. The American Bizon was down to 750 indivividuals and is now way above 300.000, with no genetic defects/impairments that we know of.

As to this Bioware dude replying: he could do that on a personal basis, just because he's interested in the stuff.

AF is pretty careful with his GAF drops... this felt decidedly pre-meditated...

...and I love it.

Everything in the leak + Arkship buzz.... this is feeling very nice indeed.

Especially keen to takle Raid type dungeons ala Destiny style but in the ME universe *drooooool* #hnnnnnng

Remember, that if the leak was a hoax (Case:Survivor 2299) then the devs would straight up deny any and all involment in it.

This hasn't happened.

Why?

They don't have to. If people want to go all nuts on unoffical information, that's their problem, not EA's or BW's.

Hell, they might even be glad people are discussing things that aren't true.
