Nope, they were different for all three games.
My first Warden was a human female warrior. She married Alistair and became queen of Ferelden. My favorite Warden was a human female mage who became Alistair's mistress.
My first Hawke was a sarcastic female mage who romanced Anders. My favorite Hawke was a diplomatic male mage who romanced Anders.
My first Inquisitor was a female dwarven rogue who romanced Blackwall. I'm not sure who my favorite Inquisitor is going to be, but that first Cadash has a definite shoe in.

DAO: DW rogue
DA2: Two handed warrior
DAI: DW Rogue
I wanted to make a mage for DAI, but I just can't do it. I just can't be the guy sitting at the back of the battle shooting magic sparkles out of my dickhole and gulping a health potion every time a nug looks at me funny. I need to be a front line fighter, but KE is just too overpowered.

I've played a mage in near every playthrough for all three games; including my first playthroughs. I've played other classes on occasion but can never enjoy the gameplay/get into the game as I can with a mage.

If you can get Fade-Touched Onyx or Silverite, you can use that in the Masterwork slot when crafting a staff to have it give you Guard when you hit with an attack. In my first playthrough, by the time I faced the last dragon I was building so much Guard that I barely ever lost any hit points.
And my first PC in all DA games was a mage specializing in fire magic, although when I discovered that Firestorm isn't part of the fire spell tree I respec'd to Lightning.

It reminded of this:
Leliana had a knack of warning us about traps a split second before we step on them. Never mind Zevran, that liar.
Lol, that reminds me of all those times I'd accidentally hit a tripwire as a warrior, and Leliana announces it's a trap just before I stumble into it. It's good to be the rogue.

Yeaahhhh
I was pretty much obsessive with female dwarf rogues in specific (so in DAO and DAI those were my first characters) and with rogues in general (every game XD), but my canon ended differently.
While my canon DAO is a female rogue (two handed) dwarf, my DA2 canon is a warrior (even though my first PT is of a rogue (two handed) Hawke), I thought my canon will be a female rouge (two handed) Cadash for DAI but surprise! Along came Solas and after I finished my first PT I created a mage female Lavellan who is my canon. I actually like how diverse it ended, but still - my first class is always dual wielding rogues ![]()

In the past, the rogues had the clear advantage when it came to progressing through a lot of maps, especially in Origins and DA2 with the plethora of traps everywhere, not to mention the locked chests, but here, it seems like mages get to do the most, because only they can light veilfire, magically seal tunnels or make paths, and these things happen so often in the game, whereas lockpicking tends to be minor and doesn't even gain XP anymore.
DAO rogue:
Just pile on the cunning points, for locks and persuasion checks. With master coercion, I commandeth thee, peasants. You will bow to my will. Ahahaha!
vs
DAI rogue:
*insufficient perks* Dammit!

DAO: Rogue because I tried a playthrough on a mage and it was rather boring (3 mage party stupidly op) but loved my rogues.
DAII: Mage, blood mage specifically, because in a story involving lots of blood magic, it felt perfect
DAI: Warrior partly because my canon playthroughs were the other two classes already, and partly because it felt right.

First and only character in DA2 was a mage (I love DA2, but I only ever created one Hawke and played her multiple times).
First character in DA:I was an elf mage.
That said my 'canon' characters are human mage, human mage, and well human mage.

I always play mages because I like zapping things or shooting fireballs at people or freezing them (much like I wish I could do with some of my authors). I suppose that's ironic when my main in WoW is an enhancment shaman (aka melee dps..albeit, I do have the ability to do all the things I like doing on a mage with the burning, zapping, and freezing - heh).

Yep. I played Dual-Wield Rogue all three games my first playthroughs 'cause I wanted a cool little headcanon where civilians would whisper to one another about the coincidence.
Also because I was too lazy to change it up XD If there was a particular class I'd be in the mood for, I'd just switch party characters.
