I choose a variety. Looking back I tend to play 2H warrior and mages the most, weapon and shield the least.
Was your first class the same as DA:O and DA2?

After starting out with an Archer city elf rogue, I went on to play every class and origin in DAO but have stuck to DW human rogues only for DA2 and DAI.
More dots!

Yep, DW rogue for first play-through in all 3 games. I like being able to open all the locks, especially in those times you don't get to have squaddies with you. Needing the perk in DAI is most annoying. ![]()

No DA2 for me, but yes, I always do the mage class first. True for DA, TES:Skyrim, Path of Exile, Neverwinter, etc., etc. I would have done the same for my first FemShep in ME also, but Soldier looked more badass.

I really find it interesting how most of the people on here played the same class
ha I thought I was the only one neat.

I usually end up playing the class that fits my character. My Warden is a DW Rogue, since she has to be a Cousland to be queen, and rogue is so much more interesting to me than a warrior, but I also wanted her to be hands on and not a supporting character as that wouldn't fit her personality. My Hawke is, as I think the majority of Hawkes are (don't quote me on that) a mage, as that seems the most relevant to the story of that game and made it easier to develop a character for her. And my Inquisitor is a mage Lavellan, because she has to be for all my terrible Solas fan fiction to work for her ![]()

I always play as a Sword and Shield warrior on my first run through of any RPG that has it as a class. Not sure why. Seems like a good all around character type to learn the mechanics of the game. Plus there is always something BAMF-y about being a woman kicking butt as a warrior. with DAI I find my most enjoyable PTs are with mages though. In DAO my only mage PT was as a mage to romance Morrigan. I'm going to replay it as a lady mage though. In DAII I never finished my mage PT because I couldn't stand having Bethany die. Carver was such a jackhole to Marion.

My first DAO and DA2 characters were both mages, but in DAI I dropped my mage Trevelyan at Skyhold's doorste due to some bug and restarted as an archer rogue. Can't say I like mage gameplay in DAI, so I never really regreted that Trevelyan.

Yes. Always go warrior first.

I played mages in DAO and DA2.(I also had a DA2 rogue playthrough I really enjoyed the gameplay but I missed Carver :s)
Played rogue archer in DAI.
I felt with the mark , I didn't want to play a character who was also a mage.
Also didn't want to feel too involved in the mages/templars stuff , after Kirkwall I was fed up.

No. In DA:O, I played a warrior first time around.
In DA:2 and DA:I, I started with mages.

Origins- Dual wield rogue
DA2- Initially DW rogue but switched to mage for the first FULL playthrough
Inquisition- Mage
I play all classes but tend to favor rogues and mages in the DA series.

Oddly, the ability to switch weapons in combat playing DAO made my character there to be a mix of Archer and DW that worked like a charm.
DW Rogue in DAII
DAI: Doing my current playthrough as an archer, but possibly would switch to DW for the next ones moving toward Nightmare.
All Rogues though.

I never stopped to think this and i just noticed i started playing with different classes in each game:
DA:O : Mage. My favorite class is Rogue Archer though.
DA:2 : Warrior sword and shield. Not sure which class is my favorite: mage or dual wield rogue.
DA:I : Rogue Archer. Not sure which class is my favorite yet.
Edit: typo.

In every game that offers me the choice of which class to play I always pick the warrior/ soldier one first. Not because I like it (I like rogues and mages much more) but because I think it's (in most games) the easiest class to get started (-> heavy armor .. greatsword - there you go).

DAO - Sword and shield warrior
DA2 - Mage
DAI - Mage.

DA2: Played as male mage but never bothered to finish. Made a female rogue in the Keep.
DAI: Human male Rift mage, but I deleted that save and will play as KE

I have two 'canon' world states and in both cases the protagonists are at least different class, if not different gender or race. I like variety. ![]()
So, in my 1st 'canon' we have
DAO: Male Dalish Rogue
DAII: Male Mage
DAI: Female Warrior.
In the 2nd:
DAO: Female Warrior
DAII: Male Rogue
DAI: Male Mage.

I've mostly played as mages and occasionally as DW rogues. I've never touched the Warrior/archer classes, but will probably give DAI's archer class a go now that it's been beefed up.

In DAO it was because the human noble origin was my favorite. *shakes fist at arl Howe* So it was rogue or warrior and the the rogue has faaar more utility. Archer for the cheap sniping tactics. My DW warrior was one of my best playthroughs though. He was so badass.
DA2 playing as a mage made no sense and ruined my immersion. Wearing all that heavy armor while strolling around Kirkwall going shopping was ridiculous. So rogue it is. DW for the mad ninja skillz. Smoke bomb teleport backstab leap awaaayyy...
DAI mages and rogues currently have a tie.
