Missions I often skip:

Jack - no effect in ME3

Jacob - one line of dialogue is added if you do his LM, otherwise no difference in ME3

If I am feeling rather lethargic I might skip Garrus's LM because it has no effect in ME3. But generally I go and get the sniper rifle upgrade.

Thane's mission has only a small impact in ME3, and then only if you stop Kolyat. But since there is no fighting I generally at least go far enough in it to get the pistol upgrade, even if I don't bother tracking Kolyat.

Oh I could never EVER skip Jacob's mission. The neutral ending is just entirely too funny for all of that.

I love the punching sound there... always kind of makes me flinch.

I also always do all the missions (recruitment, loyalty, N7, everything). The great thing about this game is that it is structured perfectly for playing a few hours and then just leave it for a while to come back alter. It's like an oldschool tv series (not like the new ones, that all must have continuous plots but more like story-of-the-week ones). You can do 1-3 missions a night, than call it a day and come back next week. Unfortunately the main storyline suffers a bit for all the side content but when doing a series runthrough, ME2 is the one I can approach in the most "casual" way.

I have soured on Jacob's mission for a few reasons:

1) I have played it so many times it is no longer interesting. I have done it every which way, seen all the outcomes, and just don't care anymore.

2) Most important, I usually play on insanity and this mission I find to be especially tough. I have died here a number of times. I'm not sure why. But with so little pay-off for so much work I would just as soon skip it.

3) this mission gets put off, and put off, until finally I am thinking about moving on to ME3. I probably like ME2 the best of the lot, but at some point it begins to wear on me and I want to move on. It doesn't hurt that insanity is easier in ME3 and the combat with dodges and combos is more interesting. I still like the combat in ME2, but some of the additions in ME3 are really nice.

Yeah, it is tough. Who thought a bunch of half-starved castaways and some mechs could kill you?

I played Jacob's loyalty mission the other day on Insanity. I thought it was really easy, I only died once to some survivors in the area before you meet Jacob's father. I was Infiltrator, not sure if that makes it easier though, idk.

Anyway, this is only my second playthrough of ME2 so I'm doing all the loyalty missions again also because I'm a bit of a completionist. I'm going to save Zaeed's until after the suicide mission. He's the only character I really hate in the whole trilogy, I didn't know how to leave him to die last time so I'm going to this time.

Do his loyalty mission after the suicide mission and he can die.

Spoiler

An easy way to have him die during the suicide mission, if he's not loyal, let him be the 2nd fireteam leader, escort the crew or take him to fight the proto reaper

If he dies in the Suicide Mission, he still doesn't get his name on the wall.

I know that'a  bug, but that always bothered me. It's like he's meant to either live or die like in the video above. :P

That bug may not exist if the game had more time. The same can be said about a lot of things in ME3

There is something to be said about Zaeed dying that way. It's one of the few ways a Paragon can be hardcore for a change.

I like Zaeed too though. It's nothing personal. :P He's got one of the best Citadel DLC cameos as well.. he's worth saving for that at least once.

Zaeed is one of my favorite characters. He gets the best ending slide in ME3

He should of been in bermuda shorts and a t-shirt, but yeah it's great to see him comfortably retired.

Ya exactly. It's how the dood comes up in frame out of nowhere with this ABSURD haymaker and yes the sound. Jacob's dad got, I guess the term would be, "mollywopped", LMAO

I guess, but honestly I can't see why the same set of issues wouldn't come up on every loyalty mission. Eventually, they're all played. And replayed. And then replayed again.

I might have repeated ME2 50 times at this point, including every loyalty mission. I can't honestly say I disliked any of them. If I had to pick one at gunpoint, I'd probably go with that mission for Legion. Just wave after wave of mechs and jumping around in that weird RAM area where the floor does all the dopey stuff and whatnot. I guess it's imaginative (if you missed the entire Tron series and never saw an episode of Outer Limits in life). But for me it gets to be too much of a Tomb Raider-like traps and puzzles exercise.

I like the environment on Jacob's mission. It's entirely outside except for the shipwreck, which I love seeing in the background. I also love the beachfront shootout just past the wreck. The mech gets on my nerves, but more because it's close quarters there and there's just the one rockpile or whatever that is in the middle to circle around with others pot shotting from elsewhere.
