So when did this start?  Joe average enterprise security guard mook from Vents and the Red Tramplers, no shield, just a sword and a rawr!  charge!  And the buggers are blocking half your attacks.  The funniest one was my leaping shot and seeing 10 'blocked!' symbols coming from one guy.

I don't remember this level of blocking in the past, a 'balance change' I assume?

This has always been a problem. It doesn't make sense for them to block the things they do. It wouldn't be so bad if they just blocked one attack and then swung at you, but no. They block every single subsequent attack unless you break their guard, switch targets or let them hit you in the face. Demons are my favourite faction for this reason.

Hmph, I just don't recall it being this bad.  Normally you just carve through those guys but lately it seems like a 50/50 thing if they block.

I've almost killed myself many times using dragon rage over and over trying to finish off a single venatori enemy who keeps blocking.

I have devour on my bar but forget to use it; I get caught up in the dragon rage button mashing

Mighty Blow, War Horn, Combat Roll, Flanking enemy, Auto-attack. Choose. Devour sucks. They cannot block the aforementioned options.

It isn't random, you do need to be observant to know when they can and cannot block. They cannot block when they are in the attacking animation, move, from flank, or incapacitated (disruption field isn't actually an incapacitate). They can block in between those animations.

I use devour because it costs me nothing to get it, and I use that last slot so little that I don't want to waste points on an ability when I can get a passive.

I love seeing them block immolate. WTF? How? Wish I could block like that. Love that they seem to have unlimited stamina too because they can block forever.

About stealth tweaks, has anyone else noticed something odd with the Red Templar Knight?  I was playing my assassin the other day and I could not, for the life of me, one shot any of the templar knights I ran into with Twin Fangs from stealth.  I never had this problem before.  Now I just can't seem to land critical hits on those bastards even with Knife in the shadows.  Is it just me or anyone else notice that?

It may be an off-host thing. On host, in some cases, it gets through a bit easier. I suspect, it may have something to do with the timing of arrows from LBoG landing and number of frames in his blocking/invincibility window. If you hit them with a power within this window, it will get blocked as well with message. It seems to be complete damage immunity frames aka non-upgraded Walking fortress for a few frames.

Also, venatori have eternal barrier which does not dissipate with time, not even a little bit. This is true on host and is very weird IMO.

Perhaps if they brought in Drizzt Do'Urden as a character, pure dexterity.  Would go for that.

BW, make it happen.  I'll help.  "We're not sure how this happened, but a fade rift connected Thedas to Faerun and this drow elf came through, looking rather confused and ready to kill."  Make it so!  Just call it 'ancient space magic'.

I love the logic, I can backflip shot, or whatever its called, and your man holds his mighty sword of resilience out and blocks all 12 shots. Glorious

Enemies should have combat skills that make them more than just wooden practice dummies (obviously), but this whole blocking-anything-you-throw-at-me-with-a-sword nonsense has got to go. That, or the Parry and Block and Slash skills should block arrows as well.

It seams to me that once he starts to block with his "invisible shield", that you need to pause or change the attack. As a test, I just attacked one sword-wielder about 30/40 times with dragon rage and he blocked every attack (first 20'ish attacks with rampage running, that ran out then continued to hit until I was almost dead). I then switched to a normal attack and one shot him.

So to me it's not a simple random roll to see if it blocks the attack (which would make sense IMHO), but more a roll to block the first attack and then it continues to block until you change the attack.  (This might explain how it blocks every arrow from leaping shot.).  Seams a bit unfair that they can block arrows with a sword but we can't.
