@shotgun julia:  funny, your "joke races" are the ones I consider more interesting in ME.

Turians, Krogan, Salarians and Asari are just Star Trek/Wars races... reskinned humans.

The bi-pedal human form isn't just going to be cut and pasted throughout the galaxy (and facial variations are hardly "unique")

You missed a solid title opportunity, "Ark off!"

Many people seem to be forgetting that a big reason for moving to Andromeda seems to be wanting to ignore ME3 without setting a canon. That means that, at the latest, the Ark would depart early in ME3, before Tuchanka, Rannoch, and the ending. The choices in ME1 and ME2 are easy to sideline, but those three are just too big.

They are sure as hell not going to set a canon and I don't see any indication you'll be able to import your trilogy choices to these games.

You humans are all racists!

Nobody should be left behind, including female Drell an Turians for crossbreeding purpose.

Quarians and  Geth are likely the the two in the end.

I wonder about the Krogans tho. Geth/Quarians story is mainly just about STFUing and getting along. Krogan on the other hand, going to Andromeda with Genophage modification still in place, could mean a repeat the same plot... Which is why I suspect the Krogans on ark or shortly after arriving to Andromeda and establishing first colonies will get cured regardless what we picked in ME3.

Yeah.  It'll be interesting to see how they handle this.  Good point.

I think the Ark makes way more sense than traveling to a new galaxy after the reapers are defeated.  By then there is no point, and everyone is either saved by Reaper tech, green glowing synthesis creatures, or the relays et al are so damaged to the point where traveling to a new galaxy is just down right suicidal.  The Ark as a desperate means of species continuity sounds far more legit than post ending travel.

Where did you people found this idea about "Ark" anyway?

Because last discussions here make it seem like a sure thing.

@Jester:  It is the most sensible.

Whether it's one giant ship... or a flotilla, it's going to be ship(s) full of colonials looking to settle the Andromeda Galaxy.

Of course, the writers can do whatever they wish... but certain options (like the defeat of the Reapers and just average colonizing) make choices from previous games VERY hard to handle.

Really i doubt anyone, beside outliers like the leviathans and yahgs, would be un-invited but if anything were to play a part it would be their biology.

Volus and Quarians are the main ones as they depend on their suits for life, Volus even more so as it need to be pressurized and uses a different atmosphere.

It's a popular speculation. Doesn't change the the point of the topic even if there's no "Ark" and we get to Andromeda through a wormhole or something. Not all races will be featured in MEA, that's almost granted. So we're betting which are gonna get cut, for various reasons

Since it's not going to be a sequel or prequel - Geth and Quarians will most likely be there.

It's nota sequel in the sense it doesn't continue Shepard's story or the story in the MW. It's still far after the events of the trilogy.
Their presence depends on when the MW races started going to Andromeda.

Would it really be revealing too much at this point, about the plot, for BioWare to say whether all races make it to Andromeda or that not all the races make it, and then just let us speculate from there?

It would. If all races Are in the voyage happened almost surely before the end of the war.
If they say he opposite, It wouldn't necessarily reveal when the voyage happened. Though I doubt they'll say something.

If we didn't already know there were Krogan in the new game I would have voted Krogan.

They can have thousands of children each, live for centuries, are highly aggressive, and don't do well in confined spaces...

On the positive side, they're highly resistant to toxic environments.

Overall, though, it seems like a recipe for disaster. I have to assume that whatever vessel is bringing everyone to Andromeda will be densely packed.

See now this is why I don't like the new setting.

I can (begrudgingly) deal with the loss of the Milky Way (even though less than 1% of it has been explored), I can deal with the loss of familiar locations like the Citadel, Omega, Palaven, Surkesh, Earth, etc. (even though each spot has ample opportunities and angles left to experience and explore). I can deal with another human only/human-centric  title (even though I feel like our species has reached borderline Mary Sue status), I can deal with N7 being prominently featured again (despite the fact that there are hundreds of other military organizations that we haven't seen yet.) But what I can't stand is the thought of us abandoning any of the various alien races that helped give Mass Effect that unique 'spark' (especially the more non-human/'alien' aliens). I hate the fact that we have to play Russian Roulette with these races based primarily on their popularity.

BioWare can and will give us new Andromeda aliens, but how many of those are going to be a repeat of the trope of one of the Milky Way races? How many are going to be 'Not Batarians', 'Not Rachni', or 'Not Quarians' etc? How many of these new aliens are going to be more than 'humans in rubber suits'?*

*Let's be honest, BioWare is not very good at adding new 'alien' elements to existing franchises.

It would seem it showed up on the trailer, rather sneakily.

To be fair the theory came up long before the trailer.
