My ancestors are from England (Amongst other places), but I don't think of it as my homeland except in a very abstract way. Someone born in the new galaxy and raised there would feel more attached to their current home than a distant galaxy held only in memory.Well it doesn't make sense at all. Earth is the human homeworld, Every human feels attached to his homeplanet. Every organic being is attached to its origins and roots. It's just how things are.
The populations going to Andromeda will become new species.

Yet in some way you do feel attached to it. Eventually people living in that galaxy after many generations would feel the need to find their homeworld even if for a brief visit. I particularly liked how Asimov described this feeling in Foundation and Earth.
Eventually these humans after centuries will try to visit Earth as if it was some sort of Atlantis. It's just inevitable....just a question have you visited England and specifically the city where your ancestors lived? Just out of curiosity.

Protip: Intolerance and criticism are not synonymous
Pro-tip: calling God (if you believe in it) a magician or a fairytale is insulting to other people who happen to believe in these things.

Comparing a god with a magician is still not intolerance, and quite frankly if people feel insulted by that kind of comment, maybe it's because they are too sensitive.

You seems so certain of everything. Good old Socrates want a word with you:

Offending people beliefs is indeed forbidden by the forum rules.

If blatant disdain and belittlement of other people's beliefs isn't intolerance, what is?Comparing a god with a magician is still not intolerance, and quite frankly if people feel insulted by that kind of comment, maybe it's because they are too sensitive.

On a general note Atheist people in this thread are to an ISIS level of dogmatism...offending other people belief isn't that great nor polite. Please refrain from insulting or attacking different sensibilities...especially considering your enlightened and scientific mind. Thanks
Yeah, science fiction always seems to paint Earth as having a special place in humanity's heart, and likewise with an alien race with their homeworlds. Even Mass Effect does this, especially with the Quarians. So I wouldn't be surprised if the people in this feel the same way.

Then in that case, the mods will intervene.
About Socrates: I could say the same thing to religious people

Look... We all have our different beliefs. We're here to discuss a video game.
Let's get back to that, before the thread gets locked.
My theory : No, we will not see any new species evolve out of the council species. Reason : Evolution takes millions, if not billions, of years.
