This is a game I've been looking forward to for some time and it almost slipped through the my radar unnoticed. "Assassin's Creed Chronicles" is a trilogy of 2.5D side-scrollers that will explore the actions of three different assassins from China, India, and Russia, respectively. The first entry, "Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China" takes place in 1526 and has you embody Shao Jun, last surviving member of the Chinese Brotherhood of Assassins, who was mentored briefly by none other than Ezio Auditore and is now looking for payback.

It releases tomorrow for America and April 22nd for Europe and Australia. If you already own the season pass for AC:U you get it for free, otherwise it costs $9.99:

It's a pity Ubisoft didn't go for a full game set in China but I'll take what I can get. I only pray it'll be good.
I leave you with the launch trailer.
PS: The song used in the trailer is "Hard Time" by Seinabo Sey (it's in the description for the video).
Reviews
"There are many ways in which this Assassin’s Creed could have gone terribly wrong, but didn’t. Its problems lie, instead, in its inability to truly let the player off the leash, and its uncharacteristically soulless presentation. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China is by no means a poorly made game, it’s just an un-exciting one."
"Chronicles' passive pacing is a shame, because the pieces, combat notwithstanding, are mostly strong. Furthermore, the exquisite environments craft a setting that makes me eager to see the two upcoming sequels--Chronicles: India, and Chronicles: Russia--in action."
"Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China has the makings of a good 2D Prince of Persia re-awakening, but it lacks a lot of character both aesthetically and mechanically. Still, there's very little actually wrong with it if you're looking for another platformer to add to your pile."
"A stripped down stealth offering that reinvigorates Assassin's Creed by putting attention back on the sneaky stuff."
"Chronicles might be a little tame in places and lack enough variety to keep you interested for long, but it has a charm I feel the other Assassin’s Creed games now lack."
