So I do love Cassandra, but I'm not IN LOVE with Cassandra, and she won't take the hint...

 

I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, because I do need some technical help here but I'm incredibly wary of spoilers!

 

The romances in Dragon Age are one of my favorite parts, but I think I went too far into a romance with Cassandra, which was my FIRST romance, and am now unable to break-up with her? From what I understand there's supposed to be a dialogue option that you can use to break-up with a follower, but I don't see it for her?

 

Anytime I try to read a guide on how to sever the relationship they start talking about SOME BIG EVENT and I'm like, "Oop, nope, stop!"

 

I'm not sure why I can't break-up with her and hang out with some other friends (like, I don't know, maybe Dorian *looks down at shoes, blushes*) but I'm worried it's maybe something I did wrong in the game? Or a bug?

 

So I guess I'm hoping someone on here has finished the story and knows whether I'll be able to go see other romance storylines, or if I'm trapped with Cassandra until *SPOILER PLOT POINT*

And if this is a bug is there some solution?

If you can't break up with her, I believe that means that from the game's point of view you aren't in a relationship at the moment and wont end up banging unless you continue.

 

But you might want to stop picking the heart responses.

Heh, this actually happened to me as well. I liked Cassandra, thought she was a good companion, and had some great banter/conversations with others, but she just didn't have that.....something. Don't know what, but she just didn't interest me as a romance.

 

Sadly, I thought if I just pushed along, followed it right up to the end, my opinion might change. It didn't. So, after watching the credits to the game, I ended up reloading a past save where I still had the chance to break up with her, and I took it from there. Course, said save was waaaaaayy back around when I was just entering the Emerald Graves, so I'm (slowly) going through the game again, taking every chance I get to flirt with Scout Harding

I know plenty of people who sleep with people they aren't in love with but like or kind of like or are the only option until someone better comes along or because they are bored and horny or whatever.  So it is not like this is that strange.  This is just art imitating life. At first I tried breaking up with her too, but mostly because she got all touchy feely about everything suddenly.
