I'm not sure, myself. I suspect she might be an apostate whose status made it inconvenient for the Templars to nab her, but we're not given a lot to go on, here.

Her daughter says "We never had magic in our line," but it isn't direct 'yes' or 'no' to Hawke's question. I don't remember anyone being granted magic powers by a demon, so she must be.

Yeah I suspected she might be a mage but wasn't sure. Just the way her daughter talked about it, like Harimann somehow thought she was immune, and it seemed strange that Allure didn't try to possess Harimann but maybe it was working up to it.

I suspect it might have been working up to possession. In the cutscene before you fight them both, Allure asks Lady Harimann something to the effect of "What else can you offer? You've already given me control of your family."

That's true. Although it could also have just literally been asking, as in "I've taken everything precious too you, what other precious things do you have to offer?". It's too bad, if demons could really grant magical powers I imagine quite a few people in Thedas would be looking for that sort of power.

However it's taken, my interpretation was that the next step would be for Allure to directly possess Lady Harimann.

Indeed, it seems likely.

She could have kept her powers hidden from the family, as unlikely as it seems

Well, considering the paper-thin Veil in Kirkwall, I can see Demons being able to grant magic to someone. After all, Spirit Warriors and Spirit Healers are able to take on magic from interactions with Spirits. Why wouldn't a Demon be able to suffuse a person with the very essence of magic and the Fade in an area where all you have to do is take a ****** and you'll rip a hole in the Veil?

I'll go with that, so far. I think any entity in Thedas can be 'magical', depending on the circumstances. (But I also have the relatively unorthodox opinion that 'Thedas' is a type of 'magic' in itself.)
