You need to use Cullen, other advisors will end the mission chain.
There is at least one where you have to use Leliana - Cullen's advice is to march and that ends Sutherland's campaign where you will not get to his mission on the Storm Coast, ever..

Sutherland is a lazy ass who likes to take his sweet time with his missions.
Yeah, I did that too on my first game, and even after that, have to pay strict attention to both the dialogue options and the text of the war table operations, or he'll disappear and you'll never know why.
The war table is torture for me. I have difficulty with reading comprehension, so it's sometimes tough to pick up on the threat level of the advisor messages. I'll think, "Yeah, that should be easy as pie for them," and then come back to find out that everybody's dead. I think I was on my fifth playthrough before I found out what the Song of the Marshes was.
Its torture for me because I can barely read the tiny blurry text, a problem I never had in Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age 2
Your kids are gonna continue from where you left.
Always choose the advisor who suggests sending Sutherland otherwise you'll end the questline and his people will leave to work for someone else.

He is basically your stereotypical RPG protagonist, from farmboy to a warrior with little to no experience, to a decent fighter with a mage sidekick, then graduating to a good fighter with another member to their "adventure party", and then finally a warrior and an ambassador for the big good, with a lover and a good friend as his party members. It's kind of a touching story.
You know what, the Inquisitor may be a fraud, but can still be inspiring nonetheless.
