I have a problem.

I prefer fast characters. But the biggest issue is: I cannot live without combat roll or any other dodge mechanism. It just feels "incapacitated". That keeps me from playing almost half of the characters.

No Krogans, Batarians, some of the Turians, etc.

Isn't there someone outthere who has the same problem?

BTW, I started playing Mass Effect 2 again.

And after having played ME3, It is just disgusting to "run" and move with this slow and incapacitated Shepard

who cannot even dodge an attack.

I'm somewhat like you I prefer fast characters and relying on mobility for survivability more than shields. That said some Batarians are some tough mofos, like the soldier with ballistic blades. I don't find the mobility that limiting on a character that has a high stagger power and has pretty quick storm speed to close distance.

I can play no dodge kits decently well, but I don't feel good doing it. Yeah, I can headshot 7 dudes with a Talon on a TSol in a single Marksman cast and it's awesome or I can Krogan charge and headbutt some poor SOB out of the map and that is rad as f**k too, but still, I prefer fast, mobile kits.

No dodge kits can get the shaft really quickly. I mean one mistake or 1 button does it all issue and you're dead on a sync-kill. Or once you get hit, you can't stop getting hit if there's no cover nearby. One grenade can turn everything upside down.

Yes, Batarians and Krogan have high sprint speed, but low acceleration, so they feel clunky and slow. And don't even get me started on the Jug. Even with Adrenaline 3 I feel like Zzzzzzzzzzzzing  -_-

Well, mobility vs tankyness is a common balancing thing. In ME3MP it works for Krogans and Batarians, but Turians having no dodge is just stupid.

And for ME4(MP) I hope health+shields (aka Fitness) are not in the same skilltree as melee. It should be melee vs. weapon+power damage and the Fitness tree should be tankyness (health+shields) vs. mobility (damage reduction while moving, shieldrestore delay, moving speed, dodge+combat rolls)

Use an Adrenaline Mod.  Krogan walking speed is still a little slow even with an Adrenaline Mod, but Batarians are pretty fast with it.  The Batarian Soldier in particular is one of the most survivable classes in the game.  The Batarian Adept is the only one I ever have any problem with survivability, but that's usually because I forget I don't have Blade Armor and I tend to overestimate how much fire I can take before going down.

Almost half?

5 Krogan, 4 Batarians, 2 Turians, 1 Geth.

That's 12 out of 65, slightly less than 1 in 5. You still have 53 characters with a dodge.

So either don't play the no-dodge characters, OR, try them out when you're drunk. Either works.

A last tip, Batarians run bloody fast, and are pretty tanky, you may find them to be the gateway to playing no-dodge kits. Especially drunk.

Turian dodge is reaper tech, and my krogans are immune to sync-kills.

Barbarians don't need a dodge, as they're lightning fast. You have to use that mobility to keep moving at all times and stay away from sync killers.

I've played every kit and done fairly well with em all, but the kits I do best with are always the ones with dodge. Just simple as that.

In order to play a no dodge kit right, you've gotta think about what's gonna happen in a few seconds. Constantly.

It also helps if you have stagger stick sidearm (acolyte, scorpion) vs. nasty close range opponents (phantoms, dragons, etc).

Krogans and Batarians have very fast default speed to help out with no dodging. Just slap ArenMod3s for extra good measure and your good to go like you got a rocket up your butt. They're also extra tanky to make up for not getting out of the way fast enough. Only real issue is sink kill enemies, so you have to be extra careful not to be surprised by them (Geth Scanner helps if you need the extra help or feel like it).

So yeah, otherwise speed ain't the issue outside of no dodging. And actually a big part of enjoying these kits for me is their speed & how well it goes with AdrenMods3's, unlike the slower kits out there. Which feel like waste for AdrenMod3s.

No mobility, no bang.

Krogans and Batarians are part of a very few that at least have mobility when shooting weapons like Striker, Revenant and Geth Spitfire.

Or once you get hit, you can't stop getting hit if there's no cover nearby.

The same goes for dodge kits anyway. Cover is the only way to avoid taking hits once an enemy has a fire lock on you.

"Banshee's coming through the wall....banshee's coming through the wall..."

Yeah, my Batarians suffer from claustrophobia.

Is it? I thought killing the baddies was also an option for that. Unless hunters.

Sure is. But some of us are still scrubs and doomed without cover.

Somehow it's much less of a problem for me with Batarians and Krogan than Turians. TSent is especially unbearable.

Vanguards don't need the dodge at all, you might want to start with Batarian / Krogan vanguard.

Drunken Batarian is definitely best Batarian.
