Jaws of Hakkon should definitely been a post-game only DLC

Once friendly fire is disabled (thanks for that advice...) the game is not exactly hard, even on higher difficulty levels.  But seriously, Jaws of Hakkon, even by standards of DLC, should have been labelled ''ye olde emporium of free falling gear''

-gear falling out of fade portal...

-quests mocked in game for involving lackluster ennemies dropping epic helms..

-a ''minimum level 21"" bow in a barrel.

Before release, they made a statement that all DLC are going to be post-game.

It appears they went back on that decision, allowing you to play it any time you wish, but they also placed a minimum level recommendation so high that it's technically near/at the end of the game unless you're a zone completionist.

Considering that people had problems with crafted gear being more accessible and superior to looted gear towards the end of the game, I think the gear drop increases are as they should be given the length of the DLC.

Although I think it makes more sense story-wise to play it in post-game (sure, let's take time away from the Corypheus hunt to go find a corpse), I don't really see why it's a problem... People deciding to play the DLC mid-game has nothing to do with your own game.

The amount of loot doesn't necessarily have to be a result of the mid-game availability, as we will be able to use the JoH gear if they release more post-game DLC. Also, I'm sure they would have put in certain things regardless, such as the Inquisitor armor and those awesome icy Hakkon weapons, since they would have fit the theme of the DLC. There was quite a bit of loot in the DA2 DLC as well, available both mid- and post-game, and I never saw a problem with that either.

Why does the amount of loot dropped in a dlc matter. If you think it's OP then don't use it. The thing about the game is that it's leveled at adults, we can decide for ourselves if we use the new gear or not. Chose what gear you want to make the game as hard as you want it to be. Go with Tear One iron armor and weapons to make the game a challenge if you want just don't bemoan other people getting new shinny gear that they do want just because you don't want it.
