Hello all,

I was wondering what the huge castle in the back of redcliffe was? I currently just got into Redcliffe and walked all the way down to the docks. In the background on the hills there is a random gigantic castle sitting there. Is that castle part of the story later on? I'm really curious!

Thanks guys!

It's Redcliffe Castle.

And it kind of is, dependent on what choices you make. Dun, dun, dun. Oooo, mysterious.

It's Redcliffe Castle, seat of the Arl of Redcliffe.

Gotcha thanks for the info guys! So far im loving the play through. I chose to side with the mages instead of templars.

I find more benefits in siding with Templars  lot more. You lose out on Dorian's iconic staff if you pick mages.

Oh....Redcliffe Castle...so many adventures.

For anyone that played Origins, how do you feel about Redcliffe village? Do you like the way they created it in Inquisition or do you like the Origins version? It feels kind of strange in Inquisition, like....I look around and I go "oh I remember that..but....it's slightly different now"..."

I actually like how it feels similar and yet different. Makes it feel more natural, like they actually rebuilt themselves after the events of Origins.

I can buy that the village itself was rebuilt, but I'm not sure how the Blight apparently made the land more fertile. Since when did it get that green? :S

At first it looked to me like the White Spire.

The Redcliffe you see in DAI is actually an entirely new part of town. There's a broken bridge down the hill from the entrance that leads to what looks to be the parts of Redcliffe we saw in DAO.

The differences between DAO and DAI Redcliffe really puzzled me until I noticed that.

I remember the windmill...if you go up to it there is a chest sitting inside...of what is left of the windmill. I find the whole village is much bigger than the original...much much bigger....i suppose to scale with the whole Hinterlands.

But in all the regions i just love strolling along humming a song...until bedlam breaks out. ;)

Ok, that makes sense. I've been walking around Redcliffe thinking, "But... but... this doesn't look anything like Redcliffe!"

Redcliffe is much closer to the Origins version than Haven...

With that DAI's logic, Anderfels is probably the most fertile places in Thedas after being hit by the Blight three times.

I didn't even recognize Haven as the Haven from Origins, you know, where you're running from crazy cultists....Lol.

Redcliffe to me is more different. The Windmill that had the secret entrance used to overlook an open area, it wasn't surrounded by a hill. The blacksmith shop is relatively in the same area but the chantry isn't, and the village where their houses were is also different, they don't seem to have houses anymore. When you do the quest to defend Redcliffe in Origins, the entrance from down the hill is the same, which is how I gauged where the chantry and tavern should have been but they've both moved locations. It confuzzles me!

It's no difference than volcanic soil, because volcanic soil is the purest on earth. I don't see why the blight would not be the same. Destruction can bring beauty.
