My favorite styles were switched from this from DAO.

In DAO I only really liked dual wielding, and hated mages and 2-handed weapon style. In DA2, my favorites are mage and 2-handed weapon style and my least favorite is dual wielding. I think it was because mages and 2-handed were way too damn slow in DAO, but were greatly sped up in DA2. And since I don't need dual wielding to have a fast attack speed anymore, I don't need dual wielding as much anymore. But more than that, I just plain dislike the overall feel and animations of DA2 dual wielding. The slashes of dual wielding just don't have any weight to them anymore, and the way the basic attacks look just looks weak and exaggerated now. Not to mention my dislike of the leaping attack dual wielders do when closing in on an enemy some distance away. And I hate that they can't hit more than 1 enemy at a time now with their weapons, whereas dual wielding in DAO had both sweep and whirlwind for multi-enemy hitting.

Meanwhile, mages and 2-handers actually feel like they have more weight and power behind them than in DAO. The mage animations in DAO were stupid and kinda narmy, and 2-handers swung their weapons around like they were in a high gravity environment and the atmosphere was several times thicker than it should be. In DA2, mages actually have style now and 2-handers have real speed and form and the person using the style actually looks skilled and strong now.

So basically, DA2 completely flipped my favorites by turning my most hated into my most liked and my favorite into my least liked.

The reason why animations were a bit slower in DAO is because overall battles took longer to finish and battles were not as quick as in DA2, where the battle is dynamic, constantly changing, and based on a fast-paced game (I found myself pausing A LOT).

I do realise that for some people immersiveness of DA2 is more attractive, yet for me both games were satisfactionary.

Slow battles doesn't mean characters should swing their sword slower than an armed sloth would.

BioWare greatly disapproves.

While I do understand the disappointment in such animation time, I also understand that these games are based on different mechanics. Do not expect the game to be constantly the same: some things will change, evolve and get adapted to the contemporary gaming needs.

And I'm saying the changes were better on the whole. I don't mind dual wielding being made worse if mages and warriors were made so much better. 2 for 1 is a good deal.
