Don't mind Impulse. The vast majority of times I see him post in threads (outside the Anime and Manga thread) he makes that exact same claim "this thread is stupid and I'm going to shut it down/spam it" and then tries to write things off without even seeming to know what the arguments are.

Link does not refer to just one character in the Zelda series, every new Zelda game that isn't a direct sequel features a new incarnation of the hero of time and there is nothing that says that it is impossible for one of them to be born female, try again sweetie.
"Hero" being the keyword in this whole thing.

Besides, there's a perfectly good character in Zelda/Sheik if a female protagonist is the goal.

And that there is the problem, it honestly does not matter how many times I saw that this thread is not about feminism, social justice or equality as everyone keeps trying to turn this into a social justice issue.
As much as I hate radical feminazis and SJWs the anti-SJWs are almost as bad, decrying the inclusion of gay characters and female protagonists as "pandering" is just as bad a the feminazis who claim that all games are sexist, makes it impossible to have a reasonable discussion about something without the thread being hijacked by one side or the other to spread their propaganda and attempt to shout down anyone who does not agree with their views.
If you want the protagonist in the next Zelda game to be male then that is absolutely fine, you have every right to that opinion and I wont try to take that away from you, all expect is the same freedom to express my own opinions and preferences. I don't call you a bigot for wanting the next protagonist to be male so why should I be called a bigot for expressing a liking to the female concept?
honestly that's more due to this type of subject being parroted to death on social media and the average Gamer being worse than terrorists.

I think all these threads are just a surface level discussion that masks deeper questions about sex or sexuality generally, like, people aren't like getting married and having these long term monogamous relationships, they're masturbating to everything imaginable and trying to make sense of it when the current infrastructures don't offer any kind of support or understanding for any of those things.
For some reason video games get beat up in the process for not explaining or justifying any particular person's exact set of ideas or principles... and then people try to defend them also get beat up and beat the other people up etc. etc. vicious cycle.

Bigot, feminazi, troll, take your pick, my calls for civility have been met with nothing but mudslinging, insults and misinterpretations of the issue. If you guys have no wish to discuss the topic then that is fine however I am not sure why you guys feel so threatened by it that you need to try your hardest to derail and shut it down, personally I think that says more about the maturity levels of the people on this forum than whatever you think my prejudices are.
In the end you can sling all the mud you want but it will take more than a few keyboard warriors posting childish insults and memes to offend me, the only thing you will accomplish is making the BSN and all it's members look like a bigger joke than they already are.

I personally see it as shitposting and one person getting salty over it, but there are elements of feminism and MRA that deal with sexual freedom and the role of monogamous relationships. I can't say they're related whatsoever to a thread like this, but I suppose I see where you're coming from.

, most people don't know at alll where I'm coming from, but I think the basic idea that many discussions go on sort of superficially because people are trying to provoke a response at some kind of unasked deeper issue or question.
That kind of leaves me guessing a lot of the time, maybe it's masturbating to some crazy fantasy they're wondering about, maybe it has to do with politics or how someone is treated in their career, could be anything really.. but it's rather hard for me to believe it's about the topic itself 98% of the time.
I mean honestly answered "Sure, I'd like to run around as a female hero of time," cause like why not, but I don't really care either way. I'm not really sure what else I could say on the matter, maybe they'll have a unique female character concept, could be cool, could be lame, could be in the middle.. /shrug.
In the meantime I could also play any of the bajillions of other games that have female characters.

While I am sure there are some people who will claim it is sexist I think most of the outcry over Quiet's design is that it just looks stupid, putting aside the whole sexism and misogyny angle do you honestly think the design looks good?
