Yeah, but it's Zelda, anytime they try to canonize the lore it turns into a huge mess, better to just let them do whatever they want.

It's been "canon" that Link is male. How is NOTHING changing at all going to turn the lore into a huge mess?

 

It already is a huge mess is more my point, it hasn't made sense since the 80's; at this point having a female Link option doesn't seem like that big a deal anymore than not having Ganon at the ending wasn't a big deal.

Then the question becomes why even mess with Link if the biggest justification for it is "because reasons"? That's all of the justification I've seen of the idea so far. Changes/additions to certain aspects of the lore of anything where it makes sense and has a more meaningful intent is fine, arbitrary changes just because is a waste of time.

 

Well for the same reason they change up style and side character personalities - keeping things fresh and changing up the formula. The bigger question isn't whether doing things for their own sake is worth it - it's how much that actually changes things, I don't know if a female link really changes much, Link was always a silent protagonist anyways. If Nintendo wanted to make Link a goomba and made it amazing, i'd be okay with that.

Link was always supposed to be a representation of the player (the likely reason for usually not having dialogue or personality), so I say why not? 

 

I actually wouldn't mind custom Link (skin tone, hair/eye color) for that matter.

Exactly that, and I'm not seeing it here. Finally giving Zelda her own game coming off the back of her rapier-wielding persona in Hyrule Warriors is a better route if having a female protagonist really is such a big deal.

I'd love a choice that would change NPC interactions, either partially or drastically.

 

Think FeMC in Persona 3 for the latter.

 

As for physically noticeable differences, just have her say "Heeeeay!" instead of "Heeiyaagh!" and "Heh!" instead of "Heeaah!". Right?

Yes, it also confirms that threads discussing on gun-rights are 100% detrimental. People's lives are less important than a switch of gender (plus other tons of bullshit) in a videogame.

I was hit with a warning point for spam (I wanted to tell BWM3 to respect the robot), one for language (Like I'm the only one who uses it) and one for trolling (I just posted a picture of a space marine slicing a pony in half in the MLP thread) and threatened with a ban.

The mods seem to pick certain members to pick on as well and ignore others as well.

The mods know how to moderate, just not very well. I'd give them a 3 on a 1/10 scale. I like that I can post a news article in the off-topic board and be temp-banned for being non-productive.

 

Because we all know how productive threads like "what do you look like IRL" and "Did the U.S. ruin our chances of joining the Galactic Federation" are, always inspiring new ideas and promoting thoughtful discussion and not just packed with irrelevant nonsensical crap.
