Where is it defined? Also how is it bigotry to see a concept for a female version of Link and think "gee, I wouldn't mind to seeing that in the next Zelda game"?

Skyward Sword; which confirms that every Link is an incarnation of the same hero, and every Princess Zelda similarly is a reincarnation of the same goddess (while also awkwardly being within the same bloodline).

Obviously all 12 Links so far have been male, so either the spirit of the hero remains male throughout all of time (and several split up timelines at that), or a male body is simply more adequate for the task of saving Hyrule. Also note how Zelda is generally useless at getting anything done herself, and only ever has some modicum of success when either dressed up as a guy or being a tomboy, and even those don't last.

The truth of the matter is I saw the female link concepts and the thought of playing a Zelda game with a female protagonist appealed to me, the problem is everyone keeps making out that the only reason to do this would be to "appease the PC crowd" which makes it impossible to even mention the possibility of a female protagonist without the discussion devolving into accusations of bigotry and pandering which is honestly just as bad as Feminists claiming that every game that features a male protagonist is sexist.

You didn't mention playing a female character.

You called for turning a male character into a female.

It's disingenuous to change your stance now, and pretend everyone opposing you out of some political BS. You proposed a completely different idea from a "female protagonist in a zelda game". You proposed "turn link into a female for a zelda game". It's like me saying "Let's turn zelda into a guy for the next zelda game" and after catching flack, changing my stance to "I just wanted shiek in a new zelda game but everyone was mean to me."

Why do I only get one vote? Am I not privileged enough for more than one?

Yes Skyward sword does imply that but I don't remember it stating anywhere that the incarnation needs to be male or have blonde hair or any other silly restriction you want to arbitrarily place on the hero, just because most of the incarnations of the hero so far have been male does not mean they all need to be male, is there no room for variation?

Also considering that many of the incarnations have been children when they saved the world I am not sure it is too big a stretch to believe that a woman could save the world as well.

Look if you don't want to play as a female character or the idea of playing a female character makes you uncomfortable then that is fine, you have the right to your preferences, but at the same time there is nothing saying that all incarnations need to be male either or that it is impossible for a female incarnation of the hero to exist.

I have never changed my stance, its not my fault you did not read my posts properly, I never once said they should take an existing Link and sprinkle fairy dust on him to make his man bits shrivel up and fall off. You act like I am campaigning for the systematic neutering of all male protagonists in video games when all I did was present an idea based on concept art I saw and ask for opinions.

While it does slightly annoy me when people try to twist my arguments in order to attack me based on a position I never had in the first place it will take more than a couple of keyboard warriors flinging strawmen to hurt my feelings.

Just before the All xxx sexist stuff pops up.

gzTILP2.png

While this has some truth to it, all thanks to some women like Sarkesian who takes everything out of proportion and exaggerate a lot, there have been many flawed women in games/media. There have been women who were portrayed as men usually are.

So yeah, women can be like men and vice versa. What developers need to do is not listen 100% to exaggetated people like our "dear" Anita and keep writing/making awesome women. They can also get help from women who are better at explaining things than Anita and be logical.

This isn't impossible, since there are already awesome women in games/media and people love them. Just... please ignore tumblr and the lot and make strong, flawed, comic relief women. Anything. I'd pay for this and will keep doing it.

Also this dude implies men can't be boring or they can't be the same. Boy, i have news.... literally half the games have the same male protagonists with almost the same personality. Nothing new. So yeah, weak argument. There have been interesting men and interesting women. Boring men and boring women.

As for Link, i thought he was a lady? Lmao. I'd agree with others though, I don't see any point in changing Link's gender.

A lot of the socjus and others of their ilk operate under the fallacy that a female protagonist in and of itself appeals to female gamers (and vice versa for males and male protags). According to their "logic", this means games like Senran Kagura are some of the most female oriented games out there.

Besides, don't these people look at the music biz and see how male teeny boppers are what's used to appeal to tweenage girls? I doubt they "identify" or "related"  to the likes of Bieber,Backstreet boys or whatever's big at the moment...

When did feminism become more about virtual waifus rather than actual violation of human rights? Tumblr never talks about places where the females are not even given the right to go to school.

I'm going to chill tho before leoskar wirtes me a paragraph.

Why? It's probably going to be a nonsensical paragraph.
