It's officially happening. ![]()
mmm... Tzeentch cool. how unique...
where is my skavens?
To be honest I know little to nothing about the Warhammer universe but I have been waiting for a Total War game based on myths and fantasy for a while now, so all I can say is
Please don't suck
They really should have called it Total "Warhammer". But I get brand recognition.
where is my skavens?
This. Also, are we just talking the Vampire Counts here, or the Tomb Kings as well?
as day one DLCs... because Sega
4 playable races (dwarves, empire, vampire counts and greenskins)?
Chaos is in the game but isn't playable?
No modding support and old engine?
Yeah.
I really should try that Call of Warhammer mod for Medieval II someday instead.
Make Total War: Warhammer 40000 and then I'll be intrested.
Chaos is within you, there is no need to play Chaos in order to feel its glory.
but i guess they will do just as they did with later TW titles. there will be day one/preorder DLC and they will add more races later on.
Dwarfes in this trailer were firing with a canon at something. Lore dictates that it should be orcs and goblins or skavens.
Well I'm glad Tzeentch got to represent chaos this time. Usually we only see boring old khorne with his bloodlust. It is time the weaver of destinies, the architect of fate and the changer of ways took more power...

please.
Mark of Chaos and addons - at least three gods were represented one way or another. Not a Slaanesh though.
i guess PG rating do not really support drugs, sex and rock'n'roll.

It didn't really say they'd stop at those four, did it? I highly doubt they would cut out the Elves.
As for Chaos, I'm sure that enough people will yell to make them playable. Sort of like the Huns with the last game.
Took them long enough!
I hope it'll be good. Hope they bring back a few features from the older Total Wars that were missing in Rome 2. Just made to fit Warhammer (family trees *cough*).
Been waiting for ages to have a chance to play as Vampire Counts with their awesome undead armies.
At least they have ton of detailed info about possible units that can be put into the game.
Make Total War: Warhammer 40000 and then I'll be intrested.
Warhammer itself is like a lesser LOTR, but WH40K is even better than Star Craft.
Trailer was good, but a fun trailer doesn't indicate a good game as we all know.
Since it was mostly Warhammer and 40k that got me into fantasy and sci-fi in the first place I'm interested, but the Total War games haven't been doing so well the past few years. I'm keeping a wait and see mentality for this.
Although bringing back things like family trees would be a cool idea. Playing as a Von Carstein and perhaps instead of having kids, turning worthy generals. Or having the Orc family tree be a list of the other orcs most likely to try and kill your faction leader to take over, and failing to survive those attempts could lead to either a buff as the orcs unite under a strong new leader or descend into in-fighting which prevents you from doing as much for a couple of turns.
There are interesting things they could do, but, will they do them?

Warhammer 40k doesn't lend itself well to line formation based warfare (total war's forte). If you want something from 40k, hope Relic releases Dawn of War 3.

Hope so, there's a lot of negative feedback about them taking the family tree thing out of the game. I especially liked having generals and bloodlines that I could trace back to very beginning of my campaign and finding good matches to get "high quality babies". That was one of the main reasons I didn't play Rome 2 match, my generals would die off quickly, they'd have no history, no background. Just randomly generated avatar with a random name with very little to no relation to the ones that came before.
I do also hope they leave the whole naval combat out for now at least.
If they do this right, it could be incredible, but if they follow the trend they started with Rome 2. It'll be the last game I'll be getting from these guys.
*sigh* you can't kill The Emeperor - for example you can't kill Karl Franz. And you can't outlive him as a Count. This will break the lore. So the idea of family tree is not something you can expect from TW: Warhammer.
For DoW they created these good for nothing Blood Ravens. But that was ok, because at that period of time you could make your own chapters and play them using Smurfs rules.
Family trees means that you expect to wage war for a 100 years or more, and this is not going to happen, because such period of time would have a huge impact on the lore. But GW would allow Sega/CA to make another End of Times for sure.
I doubt lore matters too much for a Total War game. None of the previous ones were such that you made your own story/history, if that's not possible don't understand why the hell woudl they even bother. It's free marketing for those guys and a way to grab some money from people who like Warhammer's world, but don't care much for the tabletop games, same as Dawn of War.
because video gaming for GW is just another minor type of income. just like cartoons or cgi movies.
and GW will NOT ALLOW some games developers to ruin their carefully cultivated intellectual property.
Because books, models and codices are making GW much more money than some video games. Please understand that games, cartoons and books only serve as means to popularize tabletop gaming and as result to boost miniatures sells.
p.s. for DoW they made Blood Ravens canon Chapter. You may even find some books about them.
p.p.s. Canon is an official part of the Warhammer Fantasy Battles/40,000 universe. It is published in one or more of the following: Rulebook, Codex, White Dwarf Magazine, Black Library Novel, Games Workshop website, Background Books, GW licensed Comics and Graphic Novels, GW licensed computer games based in the Warhammer Fantasy Battles/40000 universe, Collectable Card games licensed by GW, Games and background material published by Black Industries and Fantasy Flight Games (under license)
Meh, guess the game is f*cked before it is even released then.
So can I play as goblins or halflings and get massacred like I do in Blood Bowl?
As much as I want to get excited for this, I know their shaddy DLC practices and buggy launch will probably just annoy them heck out of me.
Incoming dwarven forefathers DLC pack.
Hell yeah, Greenskin!
