1994 or thereabouts, received a hand-me-down NES which didn't come with many games. Zelda, Zelda 2 (****** hated this game), and Ren & Stimpy. Didn't play it much.

Shortly after, I guess around 5 or 6, I got a SNES which I really consider to be the beginning for me. My first game on it was Mystic Quest and got Lagoon after that. It wasn't until games like Link to the Past, Secret of Evermore, Final Fantasy III (6), and the DK Country games that I really started to get into gaming though, and even then I didn't play all that much. I didn't even beat FF6 until I was around 11 or 12. Never had a big library of games for SNES. Some of what I didn't have, like Mario (hated), my cousin had.

I was in an afterschool care that turned into a daycare type of thing with trips to water parks and such in the summer, so gameboy and later GBA was where it was at. When Pokemon came around I was crazy for it, so I played it a lot.

Mostly skipped over N64 and Gamecube apart from a few standout games. PSX and PS2 were the golden age of consoles for me. I actually had a good sized library of games for these consoles which I actually played. Had an XBOX but only ever had like 4 games for it.

Around 13 I got my first PC, which got me into The Sims, which got me into The Sims Online, which got me into MMOs. I got EverQuest Online Adventures on my PS2, then moved onto FFXI. By the time I started playing WoW I really moved away from consoles. Got a 360, which I have only a little over a dozen games for, a Wii solely for Zelda and Donkey Kong, and never got a PS3.

Now I only have a Wii U from this current gen and I'll be 100% out of consoles when it gets phased out. These days I don't really play MMOs. I stopped WoW for good when Cata started and everything I've tried since has been short-lived. I've gotten too anti-social to look for a guild on my own and dungeon finders have kind of ruined meeting people. Play mostly single-player stuff on PC now and sometimes it feels like I'm gradually losing interest in games.

My history is pretty similar to yours, did you ever a DS/3DS in there? It kind of reminds me of the SNES era somewhat... lots of 3rd party games with Nintendo support.

When I was a young kid I didn't have a game console, I had a few sports games for PC though. I was around thirteen when I got a PS1, I played a lot of sports games and Driver (though not a sports game) was my favourite game of that era. But I probably didn't play that many games. I got a PS2 after that and why'll I don't feel much attachment to that console I loved Madden 04 and Battlefront 1 among others.

The first console I purchased for myself was the Xbox 360 and shortly after that I went through a period where I wasn't all that into gaming, I would play split screen co-op with friends (I think primarily in COD 4) but the only game I played for own personal enjoyment was Hitman Blood Money. And this lasted for a year or two until a weird set of circumstances led me to playing Fallout 3 in the spring of 09. I ended up having a blast with it and it turned out to be the beginning of a quest of sorts leading me to a host of other games and the creation of the gamer I am today. And the rest as they say is history.

Got a 360 three years ago. Hadn't every been into gaming much at that point, but I had a couole hundred bucks from my summer job in my pocket, so decided to try it out. The first game I got was Battlefield: Bad Company. Great game, and for a long time I played shooters almost exclusively, until I saw an ad for Oblivion on the marketplace (it was on sale or something) and went "Holy sh *t, a first person fantasy game? Sign me up!"

Shortly after I got Skyrim, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Open world was a new thing to me then, and Bethesda does it flawlessly. Huge fan of their games. I pretty much got out of shooters then, let my hold subscription expire and got wholly into RPGs. Was like that for a while, eventually I got back into online gaming. Can't really remember what prompted that, may have been Mass Effect MP.

Last fall my 360 broke down, and I was out of it until Christmas, when I got a PS4. Been going at it steady since then.

1970s - once played on a friend's Magnavox Odyssey,  first encountered Pong,  a few arcade games

1980s - got a ZX81 and played on that, went to University and spent plenty of time on arcade machines

returned home - went through a period of playing games on other people's Commodore 64s

mid/late 90s moved away from parent's home, got my first console (the Playstation) after observing a number of friends with one.

continued to present day with the Saturn, Dreamcast, PS2, XBox, Gamecube, X360, PS3 and Wii

I'm going to say it was maybe... 1998? My older sister and I only had our dad's NES. We had Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, Mario 3 and Batman. We had a Gameboy Colour for Pokemon as well. I remember I used to go to my older cousin's house and he had all the cool stuff. So the first time I saw a 3D video game it was like 2000, and it was either Spyro or Crash Bandicoot on PS1, and then I watched him play Ocarina of Time and Super Mario 64 on the N64. It was mesmerizing.

And course I'd go to my friends' houses and they'd have an original Xbox and a GBA and all that. I remember I used to go to my one friend's house for sleepovers all the time and she had an SNES and we'd play Street Fighter, Super Mario Kart, Zombie's Ate my Neighbours and Donkey Kong Country all night.

My sister and I begged for a Gamecube after playing Smash Bros. Melee at our cousin's house. We got a Gamecube for Christmas 2003 with Mario Kart Double Dash and the Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition (this is pretty much how I fell in love with Zelda). So we finally got it. I remember we played a lot of games on PC as well. We got a PS2 a couple years later from our aunt too.

First gaming system I purchase myself was a Gameboy Advance SP in 2005 for Pokemon or something. I was ten years old and I remember I busted open my piggy bank and paid in all coins. First console I bought myself was a PS3 in 2010 because I wanted to play Little Big Planet and Uncharted.

I had heard of Dragon Age when it came out, but I didn't really look into it until maybe 2013. I'd also heard of Mass Effect, and I really wanted to play it all through high school, but you couldn't get the first game on PS3 for a long time, and I didn't have the money to buy a 360. So when they finally released the trilogy set, I jumped on it and fell in love.

And now I'm here after lurking the site for about a year.

You gaming history makes me happy, Golightly tbh.

Huge LoZ fan tbh. And I also had to beg my mom for a GC and got it in 2002. Still have the same sucker to this day. It never fails me.

Mine still works like a charm too. Never had an issue with it. I still use it from time to time. In fact I was playing some F-Zero GX the other night.

My mother just hated my sister and I playing video games, so it's a wonder how we ever got the Gamecube.

I have an old DS somewhere but all I played on it was Phoenix Wright, which I did enjoy. I've ignored the handheld market, though I know that seems to be where a lot of the JRPGs went. The only handheld game I really wanted to play was Dissidia, but not enough to get a PSP.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but I believe I started gaming on the Sega Master System or the Genesis, then know for sure that I really started with a Gameboy and Pokemon Gold, with a N64 with only a handful of games that I quite honestly I don't remember. Then I just stuck to... well I don't think I did much other than play Pokemon games until I got the PS2, and I don't remember any of the games I played on that other than Spyro and the Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi series.

I got a Xbox I think around a year after it's release, played mostly Turok and some other games on it. Then when I did some PC gaming on a crappy PC, Age of Empires 2, some of the Tycoons, and eventually got to the first Halo, then to a Xbox 360 for the majority of my gaming. Mostly stapled with shooters that started with the word Halo until I got Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed 2, and Borderlands. At some point in there I got a PSP, and honestly if you were to ask me the games that I played on the thing I think they were all bad.

Now I've got a PS3, a Vita, and a Xbox One, and a New3DS

I only regret buying the X1 sometimes. Planning on buying a PS4. Gaming wise I've moved towards Japanese gaming, blame it on how the Western market is right now.

Old Nintendo man. The most durable hardware ever for a console tbh. I still play on mine too, was playing Wind Waker on it the other week (I has no WiiU.... yet). And the many of times I've thrown my GC controller out of raeg from Mario Party, still works.

Same here lol. My mom was not liking that I was already a massive gamer (on the account of the Atari 2600 and N64). I literally had to clean the whole entire house, mow the lawn, weed eat, dust everything. I mean it was like hopsitial clean. And then she tried to go back on our deal. But I won the debate and got one that day. Completely fell in love with it.

Owe you likes later btw.

Nice. I have a Wii U, and there is no better way to play Wind Waker. I miss the old GC controller, yeah, but having the map and all the gear on the gamepad is just so nifty. Gamepad is just kind of there when it comes to every other game though.

I think my mom would shoot me if she found out I bought a PS4. I have it hidden in the cabinet. I'm 20 years old, I have a full time job and I'm terrified of my mother. I really need to move out and go to college lol. She's lightened up on the whole anti-gaming thing, but she's still pretty tough on it. I mean there are worse things I could be into.

^Haha. Reminds me of my cousin who bought a PS2 but had to hide it from his mother, I think he played games on mute or very low volume. His sister was watching a DVD on it when there mother walked in, she had to lie and say it was a DVD player. LOL.

I know, I want one so bad. And really stoked about the New Zelda game even though the release date got pushed back. I try not to think about it so I'm not constantly researching it and kicking myself for not getting a WiiU before I got laid off from work.

Lol, that's exactly what I told my mom, that at least I'm not doing meth or robbing gas stations. My mom eventually grew out of the anti-gaming thing. She actually got over a lot of choices my siblings and I would make. She just lacked understanding and perception, but I helped her on that one. Turns out she was afraid that I'd be one of those live-in-your-mother's-basment-and-do-nothing-with-my-live-but-play-video-games type. More or less I think she thought all stereotypes applied to everyone. She shoulda known that I know better than that. Even though my relationship with my mom improved a lot by the time I came home from the military, moving out helped me define my personality more.

So when you play your PS4, do you do it late at night when your mom is asleep or something lol?

Started with Test Drive (1987) when I was 3. Switched over to Prince of Persia mostly games, that my father had trouble with and he wanted to see how I'd do. Then moved onto Doom and Wolfenstein 3D: Spear of Destiny. Had Super Nintendo played that quite a bit as well, but often preferred to go to my neighbours house to play the 8 bit instead. Played some of those games, then at my daycare, I saw a kid play Command & Conquer: Red Alert and asked if I could try it. Soon I had my own copy and played that for years.

Then came Dune 2000, Tiberian Sun,Medal of Honor and Age of Empires. Bit later Nox my first RPG, after that Red Alert 2 came after which I started playing all kinds of games, trying everything and list would just get way too big for me to remember them all.

But most important games after that have come from Blizzard and BioWare. Warcraft 3 made me want to learn English so I could better communicate with my online gaming buddies, probably still my second most played game after World of Warcraft which I sank way too many days into (Total played was probably closer to 420 days by the time I quit).

Highlight games would probably be...

Red Alert

Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos

World of Warcraft

Dragon Age: Origins

When they delayed Zelda, I was ready to scream at the next person I saw. They made it seem like they were really pushing towards a 2015 release. So no Zelda and no Uncharted 4 until next year... I really don't know what I'm excited for this year in terms of new releases. Witcher 3, I guess. Star Fox? If that's even coming out this year, I don't know.

I think she applies the stereotype to me as well... or she at least tries to. I have other interests. I mean... most of my gaming stuff is in my rec-room... along with 80% of my other belongings. I'd love to go to college/university, I just haven't been able to make a decision on it. I've applied before and I always get accepted everywhere, but then I tour the school and I realize that it's not for me. I've actually considered military service several times myself. I've run it by my parents and they think they were both about to have heart attacks. Having your daughter tell you that she's turned down some of the top colleges and universities in the province and is thinking about military service isn't exactly what a parent wants to hear, I'm sure lol.

We have completely different work schedules. I'm full time at a restaurant, and I often end up working the night shift. So when I get home, she'll probably be asleep, and I might have a quick shower and play PS4 until 3am. Working nights also means I'm usually alone during the daytime, so I might squeeze in a couple of hours of game time.

Yeah TW3 is pretty much the only thing I'm really looking forward to this year. Soon getting a new PC rig because it's going to be a graphic demanding game tbh. Oh but I am kinda excited about Star Wars Battlefront. Hopefully Mad Max will be decent, gonna read reviews first and then probably wait for it to go on sale. There are other games that I plan on getting like The Banner Saga 2, but I'm not necessarily stoked for them.

I think there really is no "suppose to" in life. If you wanna take your time and find the right college for you, then you have that right. A calculated decision is better than rushing into things and then looking back with regret later. After I got injured in the military, I didn't know what I was gonna do cause my plan was a military career with college later down the road since the military pays for it. My mom wasn't too happy about me signing up either but she knew it was what I wanted so she gave consent to my recruiter because I was 17 when I joined. Not saying to wait forever to do college though, but I found that doing some traveling and meeting new people can really help you figure out exactly what you want in life and will also aid in making your personality even more profound.

That's what I did anyway (been to 5 countries and met 7 BSNers) and I honestly believe that I wouldn't be the person I am today without those experiences. The good and the bad.

I use to work graves for 2 years straight so I know what that's like. Right now I'm laid off but I got a wacky sleep schedule cause reasons, so I'm basically an all night owl. It's like you hid you PS4 from your mom like how kids hide porn lol. If she ever catches you with it, you've got to tell me her reaction.

Nah but srs, hopefully she won't give you too much flap about it if she does discover it.

40 players, 8 maps, AT-ATs are scripted, no space battles, pre-planned DLC, microtransactions, less content than the PSP Battlefront games.

It's gonna be ****.

It might be actually a good experience gameplay-wise and graphic-wise, but it will be disappointing in other aspects if the current info about the game is correct.

In this thread, people with good memory.

I can't remember anything other than random c-64 games, amiga 500 games. One of my fathers friends had a machine that played pong, so when my parents visited him, me and my brother played that so we could be quiet and not interrupt their conversation. I also remember a class mate in 1st grade playing this.

Nintendo back then were for the rich kids.

I guess there's Xenoblade Chronicles X coming out, and Fatal Frame 5 is being localized, so I guess I'm somewhat interested in those. I can't see myself buying them on day one though. There isn't a game coming out this year that I'm super excited for. There's Arkham Knight, but I think my hype died down a couple of months ago.

That's good advice. Thank you. I'd like a travel and see some of the world and meet new people. I have the money saved up for it, it's just a matter of finding someone to go with me. Most of my friends are flat broke, so they're out of the picture.

My sleep schedule has been bizarre ever since I graduated high school. Sometimes I got to bed at like 8pm, and then other times it'll be 4am.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about that. It's like being a 14 year old boy hiding pervy magazines. I bought it off of Ebay, and I was basically racing my mom to the post office to pick it up. The whole ordeal is like something out of a sitcom.
