What was once a metal butter knife is now made of plastic.

Yet on the weekly Twitch Blair and Billy continue to talk of a busy team of people doing things,

it's just that we don't know what those things are.

Their resumes?

The difficulty is that:

  • no news but we are working on something, and
  • no news because there is nothing

are indistinguishable.

Well, obviously they can't discuss it due to 2a-c as per the twitter note.

*EDIT* I get that everyone wants more communication, all the time with devs of a great product like DA;I, and DAIMP is, but this is likely mandated by EA's LCA department. I know it was with Microsoft at least.

Well, a busy team patches a game TWICE within ONE week, I`d reckon.

Sure, not with this game, but it happens, believe it or not.

You missed an "O" there Kenny.

But yes, DAI is a success, the biggest in the franchises history, so by default DAIMP is as well.

Looooooooool. Something being successful doesn't make it great, and being the biggest in a franchise's history doesn't make it successful either. I can't speak for the greatness of the SP because I haven't played it, but MP doesn't under any circumstances assume that greatness.

Nice try.

It's amazing how experiences differ. I'm a little tired out now after 4 SP play throughs, but it was the highlight game of 2014 for me.

But I respect that folk don't like the same stuff.

DAO was and still is one of my favourite games of all times. DA2 not as good, but I still enjoyed it, played through a few times. I can't stand DAI. It reminds me of games like Kingdoms of Amalur. Not a bad game but the whole time you feel like you are playing some knock off of a better game in the same genre. In a stand alone game I can live with it, you want to be successful so you stick with the same formula others before you did. With Dragon Age, I feel cheated out of a better experience. I don't know how they did it but they made the third game in a popular series feel like a feeble attempt at being something it isn't, nor should it try to be. Other games should be trying to emulate them, not the other way around.

im pretty sure dragon age is beat by madden, cod, forza, gt, halo.... it is far from the best franchise. i mean DAO was by far the best second to DAI and awakenings. da2 was a waste of time money and space on my hard drive.

When it first came out, I was so full of nerd rage. I really wanted to love DA:I SP, Maker knows I tried.

EDIT: removed because TL;DR.

There's a lot of positive stuff in the SP, dont get me wrong, and it was quite good. But GOTY? That gave me the biggest lol of 2014. Gaming journalism is clearly only one step above high school newspapers, and one step below dog sh*t.

For some reason, I tried out DAMP on a whim, and found it to be fun. For all the lack of content, it's far more fun than the SP campaign to me, and that's a real shame for a SP 'purist' like me.

I had similar issues with Mass Effect 2. The simplified levelling and gear/weapon changes that I loved about ME1, the removal of the Mako (because scanning planets is apparently much more fun), the capped monetary aspect...eh, I think it's part of the developer oath. They don't improve upon what they already have. Instead, they try a new approach every damn time. I try to judge games by their own merit, but DA:I isn't Dragon Age. It doesn't feel anything like it. The only similarity is in the title and a few keywords/references.

SP games normally offer the best experience for me as well. This is the first time I've outright preferred MP in an otherwise SP game I was really looking forward to. As for being GOTY, yeah. DA:I somehow forced its way to the top, but I'll keep my mouth shut about that.

The simple fact is, dragon age gameplay hasn't aged well. In its time DAO was almost revolutionary; now it just feels like a slightly more personal, single player MMO. It feels old and tired. If this IP is to survive, it HAS to be about the story. The characters and the personal connections you make with the characters are all that differentiates DA from a swords n' sorcery MMO.

TBH they should scrap the Dragon age multiplayer for the next game. It is, essentially, a modernized version of Gauntlet. Fun in short doses, but that's all. The money and effort spent on MP would be better spent on SP. I don't know how many people actually bought platinum, but seeing as the value you get for your money is even worse than ME3, I can't imagine it was much. I feel like the costs of putting up and maintaining DAMP must be higher than they received in platinum sales, or at least the margins must be thin. As much as it runs counter to EA's instincts of clawing for every last dollar, everyone involved would be best served by making Dragon Age singleplayer only.

I have a feeling that there won't be any more Dragon Ages. It's not that DAI is franchise ending... so much as their are other factors involved. There are new heads at Bioware, and they're going to want to make their own mark with a new franchise. It's not like Dragon Age has a long history like those other franchises that EA has squeezed every last drop out of... so they won't keep releasing games just to collect annual tribute.

We will see more of the Mass Effect Universe though, and perhaps an ending of five colors. :D

Actually I've sort of wondered about this myself.. No particular reason, either.
