Even though the dragon skull throne was an exclusive item for those who ordered the deluxe edition of DA:I, it's too fun an item to have sit behind a pay wall.

My suggestion would be this:

In one of your next patches, have a new operation unlock whenever you kill your first dragon. The operation is a quick one that simply fashions the skull into the throne. I imagine it's easy to check for variables to see if the player already has the throne. If so, then no operation needs to pop up. Otherwise, it builds in a nice story-driven way to introduce the item to all players and enhance their stronghold by undertaking the challenge of slaying one of the beasts.

Doubt it will ever become free (you can buy the upgrade that gets you the throne now). But regardless, it's not that amazing. There are many other cool thrones in the game. I think there is a Chasing and Qunari throne that have a similar feel to them.

It's a crappy throne anyway (along with everything else in the "deluxe" DLC), so non-deluxe consumers really aren't missing out, IMO. Of course, nearly all the thrones are crappy.

Anyway, I sympathize with your sentiment, but it wouldn't be fair to those (like me) who paid ten additional dollars for garbage--well, more garbage anyway.

Since they sell the "deluxe upgrade" DLC (totally not worth it BTW), I doubt it will ever be added for free.

Hopefully they'll add in the remaining promotional items (I think just mounts) at some point. But I wouldn't expect to see the deluxe content bundled anywhere else (except if they add the items to multiplayer, if that's even a thing they do).

Yeah...the throne is alright, but there's others in game that are similarly impressive, or nicer looking, in my opinion ^_^

I do agree with the mount thing though. Like some of the promotional items attached to them were a tad bit pricey...when all you wanted was the mount XD

Doesn't the dragons just burn to ash when they die in this game? Or am I remembering it wrong?

They leave the skull behind as the loot node.

I already have it, too - I bought the deluxe edition at launch myself. However, my cousin just started playing the game, but bought the basic version. I fired up my game (where I have the dragon skull throne currently in use) and it got me thinking about it. I agree that there are more interesting thrones, but the dragon skull one is neat and there's a very cool way to tie it into the game. Killing that first dragon is one of the game's more significant moments/achievements. It would be great to use that item as a way to immortalize the moment. It also makes the throne one that has more of a personal connection, which balances out the fact that it doesn't upgrade like the others.

I'd rather have the dragon heads mounted as trophies in Skyhold somewhere (maybe that unused hall with the library, kitchen and wine cellar coming off it (also the Vault if you unlock that particular perk)) as visible 'rewards' for killing dragons rather than another throne.

Well, the throne already exists as an asset, so it requires minimal work but don't get me wrong - I'd love a feature like that, too.
