I was looking into getting a kindle, but thought a tablet has multi-uses and a kindle really has one.

But is the kindle app good on a tablet vs an actual kindle? Can I still get all kindle books for a tablet with kindle, or do they have to be specialized or what not?

Thoughts? Advice needed! Thanks!

Also, do kindle books have all the stuff a hard-copy book has?

For example, if the book has a picture of something the text is referring to, will the kindle have that as well?

Is a hard-copy book EXACTLY the same as the kindle copy?

Yes, Yes.

I have the kindle app on my iPhone for toilet reading.

Sometimes I answer the phone if it rings...

The kindle is actually pretty good. We have two kindle fires and love them. They are hard to beat for the price. That said, most Android tablets are more versatile. The Kindle app works well on almost any platform.

I have a kindle fire. I like it but I don't read anything on it. I think you're better off getting the app if you're using a Android tablet. As the poster above stated: It's more versatile.

Physical Copies ftw tbh!!!

A Kindle (Paperwhite) has e-Ink that is less taxing on the eyes and gives you the same feeling as if you were reading a paper book. As to the contents of a particular Kindle book you'd have to check each individual title. It can feature pictures, certainly, but I wouldn't recommend buying, say, an art book for a Kindle e-Ink reader. You'd be better off with a Kindle Fire or any other tablet or, as I usually do, buy the art book itself.

I'm buying chapter books. If the picture is integral to the story then surely the kindle will show it, yes?

Yes but it may be black and white. So I'd go with the Fire or Fire HD if you're expecting pictures.

If the Kindle version has pictures, it will show them, yes. Have you checked a preview on Amazon?

I wouldn't want to read multiple books on any back-lit device, so Kindle for book reading. I actually find it superior to real books, it is only for novels or non-art stories though, nothing else.

You've got problems ejecting stuff from your body?

It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes at worst!

Hard copies are excellent for under 300 pages books. When the book becomes over 500 pages it becomes annoying holding it on the air or using it on the table.
