I always thought that nugs were the rabbits of Thedas, then I found out that in DAI that Cole confirms that there are Nugs, and Rabbits. It could be that they didint thin about it, like when Solas says that Elves can have a beared. But there could be a possiblity that there ARE  rabbits in Thedas. Here is a video of a proof:

https://youtu.be/a6Z...F4ONXQ7aiZ-86QJ

If you see Cole says "I like rabbits  there should be more rabbits in stories"

He says it to a Dalish quizzy that says his/her story. I never played as a Dwarf or a Qunari, or even a Human. But I have seen this vid in youtube.

What do you think? Are there Rabbits in Thedas?

Well if the tiny, furry, brown rodent I chased after and squealed about an hour into my first playthrough wasn't a rabbit then I don't know what is XD I'll try to snap pics but it was definitely in the Hinterlands.

rabbits aren't rodents apparently

they are, however, a member of that charming American colloquial umbrella class 'varmint', or vermin, like rats/squirrels/other destructive small animals

foxes definitely aren't rodents

It was a fennec.

those are also not rodents

There are brown nugs in the Emerald Graves.  I always thought nugs were a pig like critter.

Aren't nugs native to the deep roads?

Nugs are what you get when you shave all the hair off of over-sized tribbles.

Thank you! I have been under the illusion that rabbits were rodents for roughly sixty years. I am grateful to be corrected by your cite.

Aren't nugs native to the deep roads?

Relevant Codex entries.  Origins first, Inquisition second.

Origins:  http://dragonage.wik...odex_entry:_Nug

The nug is an omnivore common to the Deep Roads, a hairless creature that is almost blind as well as completely docile. It spends most of its time wading in shallow pools as well as mud pits, feeding on small insects, worms, and (in a pinch) limestone and simple metals. Indeed, the digestive system of the nug is legendary, able to make a meal out of almost anything a nug finds on the cavern floors. Nugs reproduce rapidly, spreading into any niche within the Deep Roads they can find, and serve to support a variety of predators such as giant spiders and deepstalkers. So, too, do dwarves make meals out of them... nugs are, in the poorer slum portions of Orzammar, one of the most common sources of meat available. Some dwarves even domesticate the creatures, claiming to find the creature's high-pitched squeaks pleasing.

Inquisition:  http://dragonage.wik...g_(Inquisition)

I was sure before the Blight they were a whole lot more rare. Should ask a Warden about that, if killing Archdemons leaves nugs all over. And the poor things don't seem built for anywhere. I mean, they feed on anything, but they blister in the desert and freeze in the snow, and they're easier to track than your own arse. Everything eats them (except me, the hands put me off), yet they thrive. Randy bastards outpace every tooth and claw.

Anyway, my point is, the ones around the farm are so inbred, they're five colors and can't stop peeing. I'm selling them in the capital as "elusive eastern bunny-pigs." What did Father say about idiots with deep pockets?

—Excerpt from the private letters of "Captain" Byrne, lap-nug dealer, produced in evidence after seven claims of Water Terrors and death following bites in the Garden District, 9:36

Well, Cullen says that lake Calenhad looks like a bunny if I recall, not a nug.

Well, Orlesians call elves "rabbit". I only heard it twice in DAI, but in The Masked Empire that word got tossed a lot in reference to elves. I think it's safe to say that rabbits (the animals) exist.

I think they're the fast food of Thedas. Dip them in honey, turn them a few times over the fire and you're good to go.

Heh... given some of the dialogue in the game, and the shape of Nug "feet", I'm more concerned they're humanoids who have been cursed or something.

Leliana called nugs "bunny-pigs" in DAO, so rabbits have been existing for awhile.

Plus there is some Elven thing about a rabbit. Pretty sure they are sacred to Andruil and Dirthamen was all "you suck at keeping secrets, obviously bears are the better animal familiar for secret keeping." Pretty much says exactly that in the codex.

They are sand brown/yellow in color. Bioware just used fennec because they are cute, colored it like a something that would live in "hinterlandy" and forest like area and called it a day.

That's because the nugs are an invasive species that follows in the wake of the blight. The true reason that darkspawn live in the deep roads is so they can serve their true masters, the nugs, in their natural habitat. The blights are just a mean to clear more land for their masters.

Truly there is only one species more evil than the nugs, their allies the snofluers. Soon they will make their move to conquer all of Thedas! We have but one hope against this scourge. Someone grab the conch shell!
