Whatever they are, the Inquisition will launch another Battle of the Squealing Plains.
So do you think that Nugs are the Rabbits of Thedas? WRONG!

Last I checked they were never rabbits to even start with! If you played DAO then you will remember Leliana herself saying that nugs are related to pigs.So I have no clue where you got whole rabbit thing in first place.

Hmm, I don't think they're rabbits per say. But have you seen the hairless rabbits through Google search? I did just recently because of this topic. The nugs look very similar but I think their concept may have somewhat been based on it even though they aren't actually rabbits.

I think I expressed what I meant wrong lol Nug seems to be some mix of pig and rabbit so what I meant to say was "I don't know why OP thought they were rabbits as rabbits to start with".When it comes to DA in general only animal I found closest to ours were cats and normal dogs, even mabari seems some fantasy crossed breed as well.So nugs in my books were always some fantasy pig like creatures I never saw them as rabbits of this game.

I agree. I never saw them as the rabbits of DA. They have some characteristics of rabbits. What really cemented it for me was the "Squealing Plains" entry.

Can't they exist simultaneously?

Can't they exist simultaneously?
As a particle and a wave?
...Or a rabbit and a nug, I guess.

Well there were a few mentions of rabbits in DA:O.
- In the description of Dalish Gloves: These gloves are made of supple leather and lined with soft rabbit fur.
- The password used in Fort Drakon is Rabbit.
- The Heirloom necklace which can be looted from Vaughan is: A necklace made up of hundreds of wooden beards, each carved into the shape of an animal. Deer, hawks, wolves and rabbits chase each other across it's lenght.
- Oren mentions a dire bunny and the rhyme of Bonny Lynne, which the kid in Haven sings, has this line: Chasing rabbits 'round the town.
There are also Hares, specifically the putrid, half eaten one that dog puts in Morrigans underwear and those who shouted Dirthamens secrets to the treetops.
So yes, there are rabbits in the dragon age universe. There are also: Pigs, goats, chickens, scrawny dogs, cats, crows, horses, oxes, frogs, grey squirrels, rats, fish, bears and wolves. (And all of them have character models in DA:O
).

I always thought that nugs were the rabbits of Thedas, then I found out that in DAI that Cole confirms that there are Nugs, and Rabbits. It could be that they didint thin about it, like when Solas says that Elves can have a beared.
There's an explanation for that by writer Sheryl Chee:

Hi.
You're not missing the banter between Solas and Blackwall about elven beardlessness because of the banter bug. It was pulled out of the banter array and made to not trigger because it actually contradicts Word of Gaider (i.e. canon).
So, what happened was I wrote a bunch of banter while tired and obviously confused about the state of elven facial hair. The banter I wrote got voiced, and then one day, just to be sure, I checked with David Gaider about elven beards. The conversation went kind of like this:
"Hey, can elves grow beards?"
"No."
"Er, really? I wrote a banter referencing elf beards."
"You should probably delete it."
"I will."
So I went off and tried to make sure that this mistake of mine would never see the light of day. Of course, people dug around in the files and found the soundclips.
I would urge you to interpret that banter as Solas trolling Blackwall.

Never question Lord Gaider, he might find your lack of faith disturbing.
