Uh ... btw, wasn't there a thread like this before? I remember one with a lot more posts in it. Where did that go?

Oh, double thread. That's like a double post on steroids. ![]()
Mini shooting range in the armory, BioVarPls,
The official protagonist clad in N7 armor...
As well as the Mako, an Alliance Navy vehicle...
Would like to refute your point that "we're not with the Alliance or any other military organisation [sic]." On the contrary, we know for a fact that we are "somehow related to N7," which means we are definitely a soldier again. Part of the reason this "leak" doesn't make any sense is because it doesn't reference what we already know about the protagonist in any capacity. It's entirely based on the Ark theory of being a "pathfinder," which is entirely fan fabricated. Hence, you should really be careful what you read over the internet.
We don't have a lot to go on right now but the conclusion I'm coming to is that our character will be N7 trained simply because BW want to use recognisable branding. Arkcon or whatever the overall organisation is called will be made up of many different Milky Way factions, there'll be an Alliance influence like the Mako and probably the PC's ship but there's also going to be other major influences too. The way things worked in the Milky Way like the leadership council being restricted to 3/4 races isn't going to fly for a colony exposition.
Even if the survey is 100% true less than half of it could end up being in the actual game. Things get cut and changed all the time in development.
Thannix missiles that can do a f*ckton of damage.
Thanix missiles made no sense. Missiles based on the Reaper lasers, I mean, what the actual f*ck, how does that even work?

The missile would have enough ammo for a single "shot" (or burst? since it's a stream of molten metal) once it gets within range, then it would accelerate and ram the ship, adding its own fuel to the impact.
In the Night's Dawn Trilogy, they had smart missiles called "Combat Wasps" that did something similar, although they came with all kinds of stuff like particle beams, kinetic harpoons, fusion warheads, and ECM pods.
Maybe like a shaped charge warhead shooting just right before the missle hits the target?
Holodeck like in Star Trek ; )

I kinda hope it's smaller than the SR2, otherwise it could feel a bit too empty with only seven squadmates and only a few other named NPCs.
That said, if it's a long term exploration vessel, it should come with luxuries for keeping the crew sane, like a nice rec room for hanging out and a better observation deck (Maybe they can be the same room?). It'd also need a lab for analyzing new discoveries.
Other than that, I want a new AI, perhaps something cooked up by Quarian exiles.
If this actually going to another galaxy, then the core (and in turn, the ship) would be huge.. Assuming it's still based on the same technology. You couldn't help but have space. It'd probably be like flying a Reaper.

Um, no, I seriously doubt the Tempest is an ark or colony ship. It sounds like an exploration vessel deployed once already in the new galaxy to search for viable worlds.

Then it's brand new technology. Which I'd.....like to hear about. I mean, I'm open to this. I'd just like to know about it.
If it's the same Mass Effect we know though, an intergalactic ship (if it's even possible) would have to be large.

That sounds boring. We've already done the medium sized "personal" ship. Why not try something different?
Managing the Ark opens up new a lot of new and interesting possibilities. Take the upgrading concept from ME2 and blow it up. Upgrade and change your ship to respond to new conditions. Repair it when necessary, all on the fly. The stakes are much higher because if you fail, it's not just your buddies getting spaced, it's the whole expedition. If you drop a colony ship on a planet, do you go back to resupply or help them if they need it? How does their absence influence your strategy?
It's a more expanded style of play.
The next ships needs a dynamic observation deck with the view changing depending on whatever planet, space station, asteroid field or red supergiant star it is currently orbiting. Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty was supposed to have this but it was dropped. Still, cool idea.
I don't think the Tempest will be a big Ark that is the new main hub like the Citadel used to be. That's another ship we will visit from time to time.
The Tempest will be a smaller ship we can fly a round freely, probably of the same size like the Normandy.
Well if this is the "Ark Theory" ship then we're not talking a small military vessel or personal ship at all. We're talking a giant, multi system vessel capable of crossing intergalactic space with who knows how many thousand of people, millions of pounds of supplies and the ability to plop down self-sustaining colonies.
So it'd be more like a hub world than a starship.
I'd want to see awesome designs, thought out for what the mission is supposed to be. I'd want to see the ME version of Outbound Flight from Star Wars (though with a happier end of course).
you mean something like this

but perhaps there could be more "small" spacecraft to explore and defend. Almost 5 week to E3 and with luck we could know if the leaks are true.
That's why I think the Ark, if anything, would be a hub like the Citadel, not our personal ship. Then it's brand new technology. Which I'd.....like to hear about. I mean, I'm open to this. I'd just like to know about it.

Personally, I'd love for a pet Varren. If I can't take him into battle, I'd like for him to relax in my cabin. I'd also like a return of the aquarium
as for stuff around the ship, I'd enjoy some minigames. Maybe let us play poker or that one fighting game you play in the arcade with Jacob? It'd be even nicer if we can play them with companions.
I'd quite like a little personal space for each squadmate. Kasumi's was perfect, little trophies with stories attached that give you an insight into her personality and history.
I'd also quite like to see the kitchen/mess area used more, even if it's just little companion conversations (like the one between Javik and Vega).
Team briefing room. ME1 had one where everyone sat down to discuss things, though the aliens (except Liara) rarely had input. ME2 had the meeting room where you contact TIM, though the only time the team are actually assembled in there is for the suicide mission. I really like that, it gives the feel of being a team that works together.
Personal stuff in the protag's cabin. I really liked that Shep can collect ship models, fish and a hamster. Makes the cabin feel much more comfortable than ME1's.
I agree with all of this.
I would like the ship to be a bit more cluttered, if you will. The spaces of the crew having more personal items. I'd like the ship to have a cozier and lived in feel.
ME1 briefings were great. I'd like to see something like that again, and enhanced. A great opportunity for characterization, interaction, banter---talking about missions, what we've discovered, how we should go forward. And do it around a kitchen or mess hall table. It does not have to be a special room.
Another poster also mentioned having things to do on the ship. little mini games maybe. Get drunk; play cards;....lessee what else...maybe little science experiments you could mess with....well, just something to do for the downtime.
I hope there is some good music on this ship somewhere. And not just the Captain's room. Maybe a common area. A lively common area.
I would like my PC to be able sit down when she wants.
I was hoping we'd get some sort of news stories about what was happening in the Milky Way while we were journeying. But if we're going to Andromeda, I dont think the signal is gonna reach.
I guess I just want the ship to feel more personal. Although, if it's a part of this PathFinder organization, it'll probably be pretty slick.

And this, please.
This is what I posted in the other thread with the same title

That looks like more of a space station to me. The notCitadel perhaps.
Honestly, I just can't stop picturing this:

Obviously they won't just rip it off. But I want to see the design for what could travel to another galaxy and set up colonies and work with it directly. Obviously there will be other ships. Maybe we can lauch a colony ship (what the dreadnaughts in OF were to be used for) or a smaller exploration ship before hand. But I would personally want to work with the Ark itself as well.
The problem I have with this is that what they've told us about the new PC suggests inexperience and not being the authoritative space hero Shepard started out as. Starting out captaining the Ark and being in charge of the entire enterprise seems dubious. That sounds boring. We've already done the medium sized "personal" ship. Why not try something different?

Well maybe he didn't start out as the captain but something happened to the captain along the way. So you could still be in charge but deal with dissent as well. Instead of being able to charm/intimidate everyone into doing what you want a la Shepard maybe you have to manage crew relations as well as the tech stuff with both influencing each other.
Maybe you're space Jon Snow
Saw the GoT thread. The comparison is laughable at best.
Er, just realized I may have opened a can of worms. If this derails into GoT discussion I haven't read the books, please no spoilers.
