Also, the Krogan shaman and Fortack, the krogan "scientist" from mass effect 2 would be pretty cool.

Now that we are pretty certain that it takes place in the Andromeda with this ark,

I think it's pretty certain the game is set in Andromeda. We don't really know how or why we are in Andromeda though, and that changes things entirely around this subject.

That Krogan "scientist" would be a riot.

Realistically, any Krogan and Asari can do it.

Otherwise, I don't see it...

I want new NPCs to punch, to manipulate, to like, to hate, to annoy.

There's obviously two camps, "bring back familiar faces for Andromeda/Keep in milky way," and "new galaxy, new characters, new adventures"

Well, Bioware did say we would see some familiar faces in this next game, so there has to be some. Unless they were lying.

Well Salarians, Batarians and the rest all look alike. So technically...

Glyph seemed like a minor character who could potentially still be functioning by the next game, especially since Liara preserved it in the time capsule. It can be our new VI (or AI) friend. With a character who only played a minor role, there are ways to slyly avoid bringing up specifics of the ME3 ending.

Glyph dies in the Destroy ending since it wipes out synthetics.

Hopefully nobody from the Shepard trilogy makes an appearance in the next game. Bioware has done a bang up job of making the galaxy seem like a very small place. Shepard bumps into someone he knows around every turn. Time for a completely fresh start. Bioware needs to broaden their horizons and just give us an all new cast. I can revisit the Shepard Trilogy and its characters any time I want.

There should be a few people we recognize from the Shepard Trilogy in the new game. It will help feel like the two stories are connected, something this game desperately needs if the leak is true.

he's not a full synthetic though, he's a VI construct not an AI, therefore not truly synthetic life

anyone but Liara, I'm tired of her being shoved in Shepard's face, so no for her in the new series

I doubt the Crucible is that picky.

Considering the devs have said multiple times that it has no connection with the Shepard Trilogy, I see no need to include characters from those games in order to establish one.

I don't consider some no-life redditors fan fic to be a leak.

If we are talking about one of the characters that can die, then none.

If the game wants to hold its own, it does need a fresh start. There can be no anchor holding it to the main trilogy.

Maybe we could see a recording of Udina, or Anderson, or Hackett, or Liara, but no direct interference.

However, I can totally see a minor character like Mel from Omega in ME3 being recruited for the project.

I could imagine a replica of Glyph going along, however.

It all really depends on when did this new ship departed. If it happened just prior to the battle to retake Earth, if it was as soon as the reapers invaded, in the middle of ME3, as soon as Thesia was defeated, if it was after the Collectors were stopped, if it was during the years Shepard remained comatose, if it was as soon as ME1 ended...

Obviously, if this new crew departed prior to the events of ME2, it would be a major contradiction to have characters on-board who participated in some way during ME2 or 3.

If this game really wants to have a star trek voyager feel to it they should avoid recycling characters, and keep total radio silence with their galaxy. At least during the first title (will it be a new trilogy?).

I mean, it would make ZERO sense for them to try to escape and plant the seeds of humanity far away (one can hope) from the reapers if the enemy could be alerted by discovering their transmissions.

I´m hoping that the game takes place between me1 and 2. So you could have armors from both games, as well as being in a transitional time-frame between guns that require clips and guns that need to cool down. So we could have the best of both worlds and also try to please all the tastes in the audience. I loved to snipe in ME1, but this became a hurdle in me2 because ammo was a little hard to find and one had to rationalize or switch to other weapons more frequently.

And the less ties this game has to the original trilogy, the easier it becomes for newcomers. Bioware should be trying to increase the number of players, and not restricting it by calling the game ME4. ME Explorers, ME Hope, ME Seeds, ME Seeders would probably be better titles.

But please, no potentially-killed character. They´re trying to move away from this galaxy exactly in an attempt to avoid any contradiction, specially in regards to the effects of shepard´s final decision over the entire galaxy. If they dared to be so bold as canonizing a certain character as alive when in some plays he or she could be dead then nothing should prevent them (bioware/EA) from simply picking a certain scenario post-me3 and declaring it the canon ending and thus causing the wrath of a lot of disgruntled players.

Another good thing about the game being so divorced from the main trilogy is that in the case of it being a bad product or betraying its roots we can all easily head-canon it into nonexistence. After all, it´s just a "gaiden", a side-story of sorts. A safer bet for Bioware and for the fans.

Meeting people like Conrad Verner again would be weird, I agree. But I wouldn't mind cameos of (politically) important figures like Wrex, Hackett, Tevos, Sparatus, Valern or Liara. We might, for example, need Liara's services. Or the council sends us on some mission, etc.

Actually, they never went as far as saying we would. They suggested that it's possible we might.
