Looks like the anti-paid mod revolt has won, though it does sound like they're doing this to take the lessons learned and try again later, probably in a less mature modding community than Skyrim.
Probably for the best. This is clearly an experimental system, so Skyrim does make a dubious testing ground right from the get go. As I said, I think it's reasonable for modders to expect some compensation for their work, and paid mods is not inherently a bad idea. However, Valve's implementation of this concept was massively flawed, one I feared was heading for a disaster.
Again, paid mods is not a new idea, nor does it have to be a bad one. But for now, for Skyrim at least, the experiment appears to be over.

Yup that is good news for all , but I fear it will be a brief respite until they come up with a better fleshed out system

My prediction: watch closely come the next major Bethesda release. Also, watch closely for smaller, younger modding communities for less popular titles.

I think some major stake holders saw the skyrim approval rating plummet and wrote them a nasty letter. Poor old betheshda just wasn't able to convince them that the bad score for skyrim would likely be made up for by Fall out 4s modding monetization due to the entitlement generations goldfish memory. EA have gotten away with worse so many times.
