I'd say it depends on the team. If you have good synergy with priming/detonating, then that will always be superior to lone wolves. The problem stems more from the low difficulty and the low number of enemies. There simply isn't enough opposition for four good players to deal with. The dps is too high all around, so the fastest player scores the highest. If you end up in a match with someone really good, then they will basically solo everything while you look on. That's the co-op problem and that is why ME3 MP isn't doing as great as it could.

Four lone wolves sounds ineffective since there aren't four seperate spawns active at the same time. Better to run in two duos.

Guns don't fire through teammates? Is that always the case? Because I could swear that I killed a couple hundred of enemies that way.

Entirely map dependent. A bigger map and you're better off running solo on islands and forcing the spawns. A team of four decent infiltrators like GI, DAI, TGI, QMI don't really need combos nor help to clear spawns quick plus you have less wasted damage in a lone wolf setting. On a map like Glacier though, pairs is fine.

Personally I think most maps are too small anyway. But this is preferable over the mess they tried in DAMP.

Prevalent opinion here seems to be it's for noobs and don't do it.

So curious what your feelings on it are?

I hadn't thought about it in a long time, but I was camper for months when I started playing.

I always feel a bit silly at how I instinctively avoid it nowadays to a fault. When things are going south on a map like Giant, I forget that camping is an option. It generally costs me a few ops packs and medigel before I remember that camping the LZ on Giant is a bit of a "get out of jail free" card on that map. And there are similar locations on almost every map.

Those are basically the times that I'll camp, when things have gone badly enough that I need to adopt a fairly safe strategy to conserve my remaining medigel (If I manage to remember, which I usually don't.)

If you wanna camp in a game with decent players, you won't get to kill anything, because your teammates will rinse the map clean.

If players are not decent enough and you're camping, odds are it will end badly.

I just thing the game not being solo-able on highest difficulty would of greatly helped tighten teamwork. Too many players don't put enough effort to revive teammates because they know they can just do it all by themselves. Even for objectives. Teamwork is beating the game together. Not needing a team to beat the game makes it more like a solo game.

I will revive someone that get dropped from a scumbag shot if I can. I will not go out of my way to rez some dope with their level 3 Predator that decides punching a spawn to death with their shiny new BF4 soldier is the way to play this game.

I base my ability to revive teammates on their ability to judge situations. I play a lot of games with one of the BSNrs here. He and I can, and do, go our separate ways during most waves. We're more effective that way. Once the objective shows up we make a beeline for whatever it is and work together to accomplish it. Occasionally we play complimentary kits and will stay nearer to each other because of the kits.

Regardless, you can still be a team without the need to always be in someones back pocket.

Case in point last night...Rolled Cerberus/Giant....the 3 of them wanted to camp the LZ...to me that is suicide ...made it to extraction..had 2 carry 2 waves because even when they died right next to each other..they wouldnt revive one another or gel at all...On extraction I watched the goons whip them to death...bleed out/stomped...I was kicked even before making it to back to the lobby and I received 3 messages a piece from the 3 of them telling me I was selfish for not camping with them or running to revive them at extraction

One of the only games we've played together, we spent some part of several waves basically camping the tower on Dagger, with you sniping from the window and me covering the long hall. It may not have seemed like camping to you because we left whenever it seemed expedient. But that's what I was talking about in my earlier post - which almost no one read, I notice :D

You could call it camping, but I don't actually wave for 20 seconds for enemies to come around to the corner where I'm sitting... which is usually the case when people are camping.

one of the best is camping at the windows of the Nest on Dagger. Pugs and snipers love to just sit there and get pummeled by :wizard:  range units til they die, then they get rezzed and do it again like that felt good. more cookies please!

Yeah, PUGs love to do this.  I leave the Nest and run around for the first few waves usually.  At some point, it becomes apparent that if I leave to run around, I will invariably see 2-3 crosses up in the Nest within a minute or less, because PUGs never watch their flanks.  So what I end up doing is running around covering all the entry points to the Nest to make sure the PUGs don't get flanked while they're sniping, in the interests of team success.

Anyway, camping can be fun if it's on the right maps.  There is something satisfying about an entire Wave of enemies trying to break your line and failing.  Generally, if you're going to camp, Giant and Dagger are the best, and Ghost or Hydra (control room) are decent.  Then there are the PUGs that want to camp the LZ on Rio (since when is a guaranteed crossfire a poor tactical position?) or the LZ on Hydra (why, just why?).

There's a spectrum of possibilities. I already went over this earlier but my post was drowned in the flood of tears this thread has generated :D

Dagger camping is different from most other camping, because you don't have to wait for the enemies to come to you.  Snipers in the nest can open up on the enemies the second they spawn.
